Drove one of these with a 6-yd dump the summer of '87, was my first "real" job at 17 years old... no CDL or formal training just asked to "run a load" of gravel for the neighbor who ran a pit. Spicer Twin stick 6-71 I learned on my own, was the best summer of my life! Thanks for the memories.

My family had a fleet of 6-71 powered single screw GMC 9500 tractors. They were the older version with the headlights in the grill. I miss those days.

My dad's oldest brother had a auto body and wrecker service in Ashland, Oregon. My family lived in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area and we went out to visit a couple of times. Uncle Jack's biggest wrecker was similar to this. It was a special treat for a 10 year old to go for a ride in it back in 1977. Thanks for bringing back a special memory.

I drove a similar truck a 72 international that was a 6-71/13 with a Holmes 600 wrecker body. Loaded up it took 6 gears to make it through an intersection.

@graystone5.34 жыл бұрын
That’s a 1967 model L with a cultivator. My grandpa’s dad bought that tractor new and my grandpa restored it 20 years ago. Me and dad had put that tractor and my grandpas Massey Ferguson on that trailer for my grandpa’s funeral procession.

In the 6-inch exhaust has a muffler?
@graystone5.34 жыл бұрын
It has one 10 inch resonator, but we had it running without the resonator at one point. There is no difference.

Did this truck use to be white and red by chance?
@graystone5.33 жыл бұрын
Ugh I’m not sure. My grandpa’s had it since 2012, it’s been black since then. I’m not sure if it would have been different before he got it.
@nickmellon66773 жыл бұрын
@@graystone5.3 Ah gotcha. My dad had this exact truck back in the day but it was white with a red stripe that was similar to the stripe that is on yours. But looking at your other videos it looks like your truck doesn't have the Challenger wheel lift that he added in the early 90's. I've been curious what happened to the truck. The Holmes body was pretty rotted when he sold it so I figure it would've been fixed and repainted by now if it still exists. He sold it to a guy running a scrap yard in Lagrange, IN in the mid 90's
