For a couple of years, yes. They stopped altogether after 1987 when they had a bad crash that could have ended in tragedy.

@@frenzalrhomb6919 the problem with the supermodifieds was this - they are designed for ASPHALT, not dirt in any way. If you watch these guys you can tell that nearly all of them have no experience on dirt, and are in cars not even remotely designed for that surface. Sprint cars are actually built for dirt specifically (other than those who do race on pavement- and they are designed a little differently). The sprint cars stopped going here because they actually WERE too fast for the track. The wings, axles and stuff had to be reinforced to withstand the huge load put on them on such a big fast track. I urge you to- if you live in an area where you can- to go see the supers on asphalt somewhere, it’s an unforgettable experience.
