Wouldn't be a classic Honda without the clicking of bad CV joints! Remember that sound very well. That, the incessant squeak of bad ball joints and the brake lamp light on the dash that never seems to go away no matter what you do. Still great vehicles all the same! Absolutely love them!

I don’t think u know the meaning of classic then. Lmao i love old cars. But clanking noise definitely means broken/ messed up etc. “junk” dont get me wrong i like the 85 accord. True classic! But just not they way u described it. Lol

Thats was my old high school pizza delivery car in 02. It cost me tips because my previous car was an 86 Pontiac 6000 that customers felt sorry i had to drive lol. 85 Accord was pimp in its day

Your CV axles need replacing. That's what's causing the clunking when you turn.
@zuestoots51764 жыл бұрын
Yep, my new 85 does the same. Coming from VW, clicking axles are a very common thing. Wife's B5 eats a CV twice a year

I love your little Accord! We used to own a 1982, and I would love to get my hands on another! I love watching you drive the manual shift too! I am just learning one although my family had owned them for several years, and I feel elated that I can recognize exactly what you are doing! Thanks for sharing!

Love Hondas my first was an 83 Civic then I had an 87 Civic. Those from back in that generation were fantastic cars in every way, the driving was so light and spirited I'd love to have one today. Enjoy, put a little money into it it's worth it.

I had this car, same colours as well, she was called Flow because of the temp. control having "flow, 1, 2, 3, 4" or along those lines, Flow was the first setting anyway. Great car, cheap to own, great headlights with high beam, 190km/h easy and the hatch could easily fit another person to pop out and scare your GF.

Nice old car mate. It's rare to see an Accord of that age these days, even here in Australia. Like the other posters have said, the clunking noise is your CV joint, or joints, depending. Good review, keep up the good work.

An 85 accord hatch 5MT was my first car back in high school.... in 2010. It was hilarious, but I miss it.

MT cars sound much nicer. You can hear the engine a lot better because it is the only sound source. AT cars have a whining behind them, also mt's sound cooler from outside too.

Lil tip when driving stick never rest your hand on the shifter. Or like what you did on the first start up do let your foot on the clutch pedal. This causes wear on your clutch and in some cases you transmission. Just a tip but great car and love the video.

Is the glove box latch broken? That’s a very common problem on these Hondas from the 80s.

Such an honest little car. Would gladly swap my CB7 for one of these any day of the week. Not a fan of how numb and boring the CB7 is. As I was typing this you mentioned the CB7 haha, funny that. Don't feel bad for passing up a CB7, they're good reliable cars but man are they boring! I just in a way swapped my CB7 for a Volvo 240, which is actually my third Volvo 240, much happier, nothing like a Volvo. CV joints will cost you $200-250 by the way (both sides), and that's definitely your turning clunk noise. For the brakes you might need a fluid flush, check out ETG (ericthecarguy), he has a video on how to do it. You don't need many tools, just brake fluid, a plastic bottle, some plastic tubing, and a spanner, 8mm or something.

My 85 had a horrible vacuum leak coming right out of the brake booster. Every time I hit the brakes the engine died. I got REALLY fuckin good at down shifting and popping my clutch at just the right moment at to stoplight to restart my engine. I miss the little beater.

By far my favorite model of accords. They’re gorgeous vehicles when they’re really clean. It’s cringey that you keep going on and on about what great condition it’s in. All I hear is squeaks and rattles.
