1985 Mercedes 190E Fan Bolt Removal Tip

How to remove the 13mm fan bolt when your belt tensioner is kaput (worn out) and you have no tension on the belt -- to stop the fan pulley from turning.... *Remember to "pad" the top portion of the pliers with a 1/2 - 1" old hose/electical tape/etc. You really want to protect the inner groves of the pulley. (The pliers can scar/make sharp edges on the pulley.) PROTECT THE PULLEY GROOVES AT ALL COST! OTHERWISE THE SHARP EDGES WILL CUT UP YOUR SERPENTINE BELT! (Do it for the loved one's in your life.)

Thanks so much for sharing this pearl. I was having a nightmare with that nut whilst I change the alternator on my girlfriend's 190D. None of the other KZbin vids about tensioner, belt etc covered this issue..
