Hey guys welcome back to the channel. This is a project car we picked up a few months back on Facebook Market. It's a 1985 Pontiac Parisienne Safari Wagon, and this boy is big! It's a 305 Chevy 5.0 motor, third row backwards facing seats and an all complete, practically rust free body. The car has 66k original miles and has not been running for the past 15 years from the story I got. It's a complete car so it was hard to pass by and I think it won't take much to get this boat back on the road. Great show ! My parents owned a 85 Pontiac Parisienne wagon way back in the 80s . We got good service for many years with that wagon and memories as well.

YO, Love !! The Parisienne was a nice surprise -- haven't seen one for YEARS !! The Pontiac Parisienne was made and sold in Canada. It was the "Canadian Version" of the Pontiac Bonneville.

Good evening, very cool find. I have had a few of these. 83,84,85,86 were Canadian and came with the 305 chevy engine. 85(i believe) and 86 shared the lot with the American version the Safari. The Safari continued through 89, I believe. The easiest way to tell them apart is the motor. American Safaris came with the lackluster boat anchor Oldsmobile 307. Something about the emissions of the 307 wouldn't pass in Canada. I currently have 2, 87 Safari for parts and a 85 Parisienne with 31k original miles, its a build car that i will be starting next year. They are both wagons. As for where to start, first and foremost change the following Oil Fuel tank All filters Spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires Battery Buy a oil primer drive tool. Put fresh oil and prime the oil system for about 5 minutes. While you have the fuel tank out, disconnect the fuel lines at the front and blow air and brake clean through all of the lines, 4 or 5 times. Dont be cheap here, the carb will thank you. When doing the filters, dont forget that the Quadrajet carbs have a filter in the carb, change it as well. Follow these steps and she will fire right up and run fine, noisy at first but she will quiet right down since you primed it. I look forward to your progress, and may do my own series of videos. Those are cool old cars. These actually drove pretty sporty for the time period, compared to the older wagons and Ford wagons and whatnot. I always pronounced it "puh-ree-zee-ehn", but I'm not entirely sure if that's correct or not, but I never had anyone tell me it wasn't. The 305 was a solid motor, but a bit underpowered. The transmission in these was less solid, my dad's 84 Caprice had the original trans go out pretty early on.

lol…to be totally honest I have never heard of Parisienne prior to seeing this car, so I have no clue how to reels say it myself. And KZbin actually does not have much on these cars as is. Thanks for commenting and shining some light. Fingers crossed the tranny is not blown

That pronunciattion is CORRECT, Melvin -- The Parisienne was big and "floaty" -- the GM factory shock absorbers were garbage -- The Ford Country Squire wagon handled better, and was more reliable. These big wagons did well in Destruction Derbies, but couldn't pass a gas pump without stopping. 😁

​@@SlikLizrd From my experience the GM downsize cars usually handled a lot better than the Ford downsize cars, though they definitely didn't ride as well. I do think the Fords had tighter steering though. I agree, the Fords were definitely more reliable, and I'd say they were just more solid overall as well. The Fords had fully boxed frames, while these GM cars were C channel on the siderails and rear sections, and only boxed for the front.

I dig Ponti's brown paint with the petina rust combo together, it gives almost a 80's rat-rod vibe even without slapping fresh paint on it (which you could also do). Sorry, no tips in where to start to get the engine running, if was me unfortunately I would be searching "How To Free Up a Seized Engine" since the fellow said he hadn't had it running in 12 to 15 years and although he says it turns that does not mean it is clean ready to go at full operating idle RPM... right? I'm guessing changing the ancient oil and letting it soak in for a bit might help soften up any old crud build up from over the years? I totally see part of the charm and vision you have for Ponti and hope that the wife warms up to it more once you have it cleaned up real nice and running proper. Perhaps she might accept a shorter camping adventure at that point?

Mitsubishi made Japanese fighter planes during World War 2. As kids, we had to learn to identify the German and Japanese planes -- there was a WAR going on -- with 2 countries on 2 different continents. I would definitely drop the gas tank and unhook the fuel line to the carburetor the gas is probably like shellac, most likely brakes will need redone front to back

Best thing to use for the old GM seats is coconut oil armor all drys them out ask me how I know massage it in and wipe excess off can probably use on door panels also to keep supple
