It is Bryan Firth, one of the very original commentators. He was a very boring sounding commentator and normally was very minimalistic in his delivery. He used to cover all the northern tracks ie: Yorkshire up to Scotland, although did once cover the Cesarewitch when 3 commentators were deemed necessary. Im pretty also sure he was the brother of Newmarket Clerk of The Course Patrick Firth. He was in his 60s when he was pensioned off, having falling out of favour with SIS. The latest racecard I have seen with his name on is 1988.
