I'll just say that the circuits aren't necessarily long by any means, but if the horses don't want to jump anymore, don't push them to jump anymore. Or this is what happens. The falls were just accidents (luckily not one horse was majorly injured), but the refusals were apparent and no accident by the horses. That's the que to stop. I'm not a person that wants to ban races or steeplechases or anything, but when the horses don't want to do it, I hate when they put pressure on them. And I also ha

I love horse racing and I'll stick up for the jockey's most of the time, but this is just pathetic on their part, I mean by all means push it to win but these poor fuckers are so shot they can barely muster up a leap never mind a jump, how about the one's who say they "love it" run a marathon and then have a sit down and then go and try and leap over some railings?!?!, because I guarantee you will be so fucking knackered you won't even attempt it, these poor horses should have been pulled up end of story. I love horse racing and horses love to race trust me, they will give 100% but in this case its a joke. its a good job they have changed the rules now and they are no longer allowed to re-mount, and they are told to pull up when the horse is too tired now as-well. its much better run than back then and its much better for it.

+Matthew Hodson Yes it looks bad very bad infact, certainly the ones that fell down the back straight should never have been asked to remount given they were so out on their feet, but jockeys act instinctively and seeing as they were all handed a chance to go and win the race you can see why they did it... it was a most irregular thing to happen anyway and with no rules in place to stop them remounting you can excuse them for doing it... also they might have been quite inexperienced so it would have been a major learning curve for all involved.. McCoys mount finished relatively fresh so he should be absolved from ant blame in my book

I just want to say that I completely understand what you are saying, but many Thoroughbred's have gone on in their career as Olympic horses and many have won. My guess is that these horses were not properly trained for Steeplechasing, which caused them to refuse or trip over the jump. Either that, or their jockeys had them take off too soon or too late. i'm guessing you're quite educated about horses due to your picture, anyway.. The last horse to fall in the back straight was NOT exhausted.. Just novice-y, when a horse goes right at a fence like that its just lacking concentration or has spotted something, the horse was travelling perfectly fine requiring no assistance from the saddle.. Im guessing this was a novice chase because none seemed to show any racecourse experience
@hellothere32704 жыл бұрын
5:55 that could've killed someone or SOMETHING! Lucky that fence was high enough that the horse couldn't flip over! Poor horse, since this race was okay until the rotational fall came up, how is that good? The horse or rider couod've died and then the race wouldn't of been so 'funny'

Firstly I am glad no one or horse was injured in this race but it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen , all the horses falling is just so funny to watch ,classic
@janedoe50482 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these jockeys seem more like racing jockeys than jumpers. In racing the jockey can break his concentration, look over each shoulder to see who is where, get into it with the jockeys on either side of him, cut off other horses etc. and a racing horse just keeps racing. If a jockey on a jumper breaks concentration for a split second, those horses pick up on it immediately. If a horse refuses a jump, you can blame the rider.

Some days its just a matter of getting round, and at least Family Business was able to claim that personal victory. The track was wet and boggy - slow going and physically draining. I think that was the major problem with why so many horses and riders had a hard go of it. Even so, steeple chasing is a tough and dangerous sport - thus the reason it appeals to so many. If you have never ridden a steeplechase horse or even ran roads and tracks in a HT, you have no idea of the thrill this gives - not just for the horse! Yes - I can say without a doubt - the horses LOVE it. I can see why people would think otherwise, especially with some of the videos online, but that isn't a clear picture of this amazing sport and the incredible athletes it has.

There are actually quite a few horses racing up to 12 or 13 years old. They aren't top horses but they still manage to find the winner's circle often enough. I hate steeplechasing races. You can ask a horse to jump or ask it to run fast but not both at the same time and certainly not to do both safely. At least event riders in showjumping are cognizant of the risks they take in jumpoffs but the length of those is usually very short at 30 - 40 second time allowance.

I’m not against racing but this is stupidity right here half these horses looked like they needed pulling up. That’s the problem with remounting the jockey may have just got unseated and would be fine to remount and go on (many horses continue on after loosing their jockeys) but they may get back on despite a horse being knackered so it becomes a grey area where you could have a lot of tired horses injuring themselves as one almost went vertical after remounting.

Both this video and the one from Newcastle 1990 I posted solely as entertainment and to try and get more younger people involved in watching horse racing.
