4K 60FPS - I've listed every Toyota part number used for each repair; One owner, 105k original everything miles. The truck sat from 2007 to 2018 under a carport in Arizona. The following was done to get it back to life;
-Rebuilt original Toyota CT-20 (Hitachi 17201-54060) Turbo @ Fuel Injection Services Co. Mesa AZ goo.gl/maps/ekpSz6rWnhBQMy2t9
-Rebuilt original Toyota mechanical diesel injection pump (Denso 22100-5B280) @ Fuel Injection Services Co. Mesa AZ goo.gl/maps/ekpSz6rWnhBQMy2t9
-Replaced high pressure injectors with Toyota OEM (Denso 23600-54080)
-Replaced glow plugs with Toyota OEM (Denso, shipped from England 19850-54071)
-Replaced glow plug relay with Toyota OEM (Denso, shipped from Dubai 28610-54090)
-Replaced 2 relay solenoids for the starter system and secondary glow plug relay system (Standard Part Co., Standard Motor Products SS581 Starter Relay Solenoid) (CAN USE Toyota OEM 28610-68030 + 28550-57010 or 28610-46030 or 28610-68010)
-Replaced starter relay wiring system with one gauge larger copper cabling, crimped + heat shrunken
-Replaced almost every single hose (fuel tank hoses, fuel system/mechanical pump hoses, coolant hoses, heater hoses, turbo system vacuum hoses, power steering hoses, and fresh air hoses)
-Replaced ALL engine belts (13568-59025 + others)
-Replaced timing belt tensioner idler sub-assembly, NO.1 with Toyota OEM (13505-54010)
-Replaced timing belt tensioner idler sub-assembly, NO.2 with Toyota OEM (13503-54010)
-Replaced engine pulley spring with Toyota OEM (90506-14038)
-Cleaned fan clutch
-Replaced original windshield
-Replaced oil filter with Toyota OEM (15600-41010)
-Replaced engine oil (Shell Rotella 15W-40)
-Replaced coolant fluids (Had green… kept green, not red)
-Replaced radiator cap sub-assembly with Toyota OEM (16401-63010)

-Dropped fuel tank, drained, inspected, cleaned, and re-mounted.
-Replaced fuel tank pickup tube filter with Toyota OEM (77023-12050)
-Replaced fuel tank cap with Gates 31734D Locking Diesel Cap
-Replaced rear brake boots with Toyota OEM (04495-35090)
-Replaced brake booster with Toyota OEM (04443-35730)
-Replaced brake master cylinder with Toyota OEM (04493-35100)

-Replaced hood rod holder plastic clip with Toyota OEM (53452-90351)
-Powder coated original 15” steel wheels (Desert Sand, PrismaticPowders.com)
-Replaced tires with BFG KO2 31” (Discount Tire, price matched Wal-Mart)
-Replaced rear brake light lens [left hand side] (81561-89133)
-Replaced rear brake light lens [right hand side] (81551-89133)
-Replaced L/R rear brake lights lens gaskets with Toyota OEM (81552-89131)
-Replaced all brake light bulbs with Sylvania silver-star
-Replaced dome light cover with Toyota OEM (87834-89102)
-Replaced internal dome with a decent quality LED bulb (Xenon White High Power 31mm 1.22" 12SMD Festoon LED)
-Greased tailgate internal mechanics
-Replaced license plate hardware with stainless steel nylon lock hardware
-Thorough power washing, with foam degreaser
-A full tank of good diesel fuel

Some facts on this 1985 Toyota LN65L-MDXA Pickup:
-93 hp @ 4,000 rpm & 159 lb⋅ft @ 2,400 rpm using the 2L-T engine.
-The origin of the name "Hilux" is derived from the words "high" + "luxury.
-Two diesel engines were also offered, the 2L and the turbocharged 2L-T. The engines were discontinued in the U.S. after the 1986 model year, this was due to higher performance expectations from customers and the wide availability of inexpensive gasoline.
-The fourth generation remained in production until 1997 in South Africa due to South African "content laws" which made it cheaper to continue the production of the fourth generation of the Hilux, rather than to retool the plant for the fifth generation model.
-Solid front axles had been present in all 4x4 Toyota models until 1986; 1985 was the last year they used it in their pickup trucks. 🚚💨

I have one. 250,000 plus miles on it. Drive train is in great shape. Turbo needs a rebuild. Frame and body are rusted away. I'm going to scrap it and save the mechanical parts to build something in the future.

Adam Schwarcz that’s awesome what a great vehicle we have! A diesel powered Toyota 4runner pick up and a diesel powered Toyota 4runner from 1985 are going down in history as one of the best! I’m pretty sure all of the same Toyota parts will just fit right into your engine bay for the second battery kit. I plan on increasing the batteries quality and cold cranking amp capacity here soon. I believe I have 750 CCA rating on each battery; I might increase that to 850 or 900 cold cranking amps. Any recommendations? I have been referred to use a batteries plus higher end battery with the seven-year warranty. I will not use Optima.

Rust is the enemy! I am glad your tackling that task, hopefully its not too damaged from the last 35 years, I just re-did my interior with "Second Skin" (100% butyl rubber and an annealed, black aluminum constraint layer to provide best-in-class automotive soundproofing) from back to firewall and inside door panels. I ran all my speaker wires for future amp and sub installation under the carpet leading to the center, under the bench seat. I also purchased a carpet kit and re-covered/foamed the bench seat. Ill post a video of the interior once the stereo is installed.

@@geekswhocare7093 I am a precision machinist by trade as well as a fabricator. Body rust is not a big deal to me, just time consuming. The frame is in great shape, that's what matters. These years of toyotas were known for having frames and motors that easily outlasted the body's. Bodies were know to rot on these years. It wasn't till the late 90s that the frames started becoming a issue. I plan on putting a sound dampening layer inside the cab once it is done as well. I might replace the seat with a more modern one.

Does it have power steering and factory AC? I have a 1985 2wd diesel that I bought to do a swap in a 1985 4Runner, which I now have. In order for me to do the swap I need the 4wd parts to make it compatible. would love to find a roached 1985 4x4 diesel to use as a donor rather than the 2wd, the issue is the oil pan and the clearances for the straight axle and a few other things. When you bought from Dubai, was it through a website or was it ebay?

The power steering is called a "power assist" and was a factory part. The A/C was also factory! However, the compressor was upgraded to a 90's Camry model to be a little more efficient. It does also use the older R12 freon. It was serviced by a reputable A/C shop 2 years ago and works great in the hot AZ summer! This was purchased at a RV dealership as a grey market brand new import. It was outfitted with a trailer to make the complete package.

Nice truck. Low miles... you've hardly broken that engine in! Tell me, what's it like at speed? My 1985 2lt quad cab starts to vibrate over 80kmph.. wondering if its engine mounts or driveshaft. ?

Mine is super smooth at 72-77mph; I rarely have done over 80 now that my tires are getting old. I notice a vibration sensation only at 38-43mph and its because of the old un-even worn tires.

Gabriel Guadarrama thanks!!!! It’s such a great truck; I am currently getting 25MPG, 420 miles on 16.7 gallons of diesel no. 2 One could easily get more MPG depending on their driving habits and commute in addition to smaller or smoother street tires.

Batteries used to be "weaker" at that time and have since become more reliable; the dual batteries are run in series. If one fails the other may continue to work but I am just about to replace both here in a month before the free Walmart warranty expires.
