Cokes were 50 cents hot dogs were .50 cents.programs were 75 cents. Go to the history of the new England Patriots you will see Fenway park set up for football. I was crying after this game I was so excited they pulled it out. Thank you for posting this classic heart stopping playoff game.also folks about 5 weeks after this game the Patriots played the Rams there and Tony Eason threw a last effort pass with no time left in the game and right about where Henderson dropped the home run Irving fryer made a great catch to win it for the Patriots. I can only imagine how much a nervous wreck fans were both sides....but particularly Red Sox nation, just when it looked as if their season was all over they stormed back and won this game and the Angels STILL had a chance to win this game even after blowing it in the 9th inning. Incredible drama it must've been for sure. The last 2 games back in Boston turned out to be one-sided for the Sawx who came back & won this series after.

People focus on Henderson's homerun, but the hero of that game without a doubt was Rich Gedman. He had four hits including a two run homer. He gunned down both runners who tried to steal -- White and Downing. He got on base in the 9th so that Henderson's homer scored two. In the 11th he bunted Baylor over to third and beat out the throw to first. Baylor then scored the winning running on a sacrifice fly. And he caught Crawford, who hardly pitched in the regular season or playoffs. It's too bad he didn't get more recognition for dominating that game.

If you read about it, Donnie Moore had a lot of problems at home that bottomed out, and came very close to taking his estranged wife and kids with him. His professional career would have faded anyway whether he gave up the home run or not, and at that point his problems at home would have manifest as they did. The outfield wall played such a big part in this game. 1) Tony Armas injured crashing into it. Dave Henderson doesn't enter the game without the Armas injury. 2) Grich's 2-run homer almost caught by Henderson. 3) Jim Rice's back to the wall catch to prevent an extra-base hit. 4) Brian Downing's sensational catch crashing into the wall to rob Ed Romero. And that Anaheim outfield wall was solid concrete, with just thin padding and a plastic bag covering it up.

The Angels were up 3-1 in the best of 7 series against the Red Sox and up 5-2 in the 9th inning, 3 outs away from the American League Pennant. After the home run by Baylor, Donnie Moore was brought in with 2 outs in a 5-4 game to face Dave Henderson, 1 out away from the World Series. With the count 0-2, Henderson belted the go ahead home run to put Boston up 6-5. The Angels tie the game in the 9th, but the Red Sox go on to win and forces the series back to Boston. They win Game 6, and massacre the Angels 8-1 in Game 7 to go to the World Series. After being so close, 1 strike away from victory, the Angels go home empty handed.
