Those graphics required computers the size of a wardrobe that cost millions. Not to mention the coding skills required to operate them. Today, this can be done with a few mouse clicks on any home computer.

Interesting transitional time in motion graphics. I've always been curious about the NBC News Statue of Liberty animation. I've heard lots of contradictory claims about who made it and how it was made.

Gosh, if you mention the name, I will know it. What an interesting era indeed. The motion was so intentional, which seems to be a lost art these days.

4:57 It's a coincidence that there is a WOIO graphic followed by a CBS graphic. WOIO would switch from Fox to CBS about 8 years later.

Blink, and you'll miss the "4" logo for WCCO Minneapolis @ 0:25

Even without that bumper, the voiceover in the intro is the same VO that WCCO radio and TV used at this time, Paul Stagg (who was a 'CCO employee and later went into station ownership in Minnesota).

I wonder if the full tape is out there somewhere?

It is, it got stuck when I recorded this (typical issue with normal tape degradation and adhesive bleed) but I got it fixed and will record the remainder
