I'm tickled by sweater guy, especially when he starts geeking out over Harry Marx and then very confidently mixes up Star Wars and Star Trek. 15:39

Interesting live shot from the House gallery. I guess they must have had some sort of permanent cabling to that location.

The late 70s and early 80s were a unique time for depictions of nuclear attacks, especially within the context of the Cold War… of course there was also The Day After, and the NBC made-for-TV movie Special Bulletin, which I had watched a few times within the past year.

I just saw this on KWQC-TV 6 several hours ago!! It was during a commercial either within the 6 pm news or "Wheel Of Fortune." @cyledickens6 If you don't mind me asking, who is the singer of the version in this video? The voice sounds rather familiar, like either Taylor Swift or some other modern day pop star. On another note, I was saddened to hear about the passing of the original "Hello News" female singer Florence Warner back in September; May Ms. Warner rest in peace.😢

Those graphics required computers the size of a wardrobe that cost millions. Not to mention the coding skills required to operate them. Today, this can be done with a few mouse clicks on any home computer.

It is, it got stuck when I recorded this (typical issue with normal tape degradation and adhesive bleed) but I got it fixed and will record the remainder
@Newsdude31213 күн бұрын
Agreed -- sounds somewhat similar to Tuesday's image song, "All We Are, We Are for You."
@JimmySand913 күн бұрын
Definitely sounds like Tuesday. I wouldn't be surprised if it was originally composed for WSOC, as they used a very similar slogan (just swap "bring" for "send").

Interesting transitional time in motion graphics. I've always been curious about the NBC News Statue of Liberty animation. I've heard lots of contradictory claims about who made it and how it was made.
@cyledickens611 күн бұрын
Gosh, if you mention the name, I will know it. What an interesting era indeed. The motion was so intentional, which seems to be a lost art these days.

Even without that bumper, the voiceover in the intro is the same VO that WCCO radio and TV used at this time, Paul Stagg (who was a 'CCO employee and later went into station ownership in Minnesota).
