For god sake! It was Game 6! There was still a game 7 to play. They did not lose the World Series on that error. They were leading in Game 7 by 3 runs until the 6th inning when, once again, the bull pen imploded. Why aren't Schilraldi and Bob Stanley blamed for this? I never understood why this was put on Buckner and I blame Dan Shaughnessey and the Boston media for hanging it on Buckner. Shaughnessy: "The Buckner error was the equivalent of the Kennedy Assassination (09:58)." Seriously? It was that kind of "stirring the pot" journalism that drove the poor the man to move and turn the fans against him. Nice going Dan. And then, to have the nerve after the Sox finally won it in 2004 to tell Buckner "all is forgiven"? Buckner had every right to say "F-YOU!!" to every Sox fan and sports writer.
