I ordered one just like yours in October of 86 with the 305 TPI and special order IROC 3 package and 5speed. Mine was a hard top. I drove her from delivery in March of 88 . Oh yea mine was an 87. I put 285000 miles on her and my youngest son wanted it when he graduated H/S. Man I wish I’d kept her! He went in the Marines stayed 15 yrs. The IROC sat the whole time!🥲 When he got out first thing he did when got out ! He traded her in for a new truck?? Sucks! Man I wish I’d bought it from him except he was based in Camp Pendleton Calf. Your and mine were the most beautiful hot rods of that era! You got a Great looking Hot Rod too. Thanks for the videos 🏁🇺🇸

I bought a red model this month. It needs a ton of work and over a dozen parts. I'm considering putting real leather in place of the fabric. I'm glad I could find a video of the same year model to compare what I have.

I owed an 86 IROC Z28 CAMARO when I was 25 years old. Exact same color as yours. So you know that I was smiling throughout your entire video. Man, that's a bad ass sexy beast of a car! I owed the streets and the highways and was pulled over many times but probably only got ticketed 2 times. A State Trooper once asked me, " do you know why I pulled you over?" I replied "no." He said, "because you almost took my front bumper off back there. " Dude was just jealous because all I had to do in this car was pull the steering wheel down slightly with my index finger and I was in the next lane before he could bat an eye! Kmsl......he didn't ticket me either! If you are trying to restore the car properly, you need to invest in Goodyear Gatorback Unidirectional Tires. If they're still being sold, they are the only tires that should be on the wheels. They were $250 per tire in 1986, but they made the car hug the road like it was manufactured to do!

I had an 85 in the same color, the 86 were smog riddled (along wirh crappy cam) slow pigs, also are you do realize that the good year gatorbacks haven’t been made since the 90’s ,.

I had an '89 IROC, 305, TPI automatic. In stock form it turned 15:30's at best, but, mostly 15:50's at the drag strip. It handled well and was very fun to drive, I sold it in 2001.

Looks like the water temp gauge needle is broken off the axis. You can see a small hole in the black axis that is mounts to. The back of the needle should be over that hole.

This is my current and first car. I own an 86 iroc z28. Exactly like this one except it isn’t a t-top and my headlight buckets are not black. Everything works fine except my speedometer. That’s the only thing that won’t work and I don’t know how to fix it, can anyone help?

Miss my 84 Z28 I had took out the 305 and put a 350 in it and put 235/60/15 Daytona's on it really gave it a wide appearance. But I enjoy my 2010 SS

Absolutely beautiful. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for these 3rd Gen Camaro's. My Uncle always had one when I was a kid. The very 1st time I went over 100mph was in his 85 5.0. I'm in the market for one right now. Do a 6.0 LQ swap with a stroker kit, and make it fun

My cousin had same as yours and I had the 1986 Iroc Z still hear us rolling the roads with them growling and playing Rock of Ages by Def Leppard with NO FEAR OF THEIR TORQUE and of all these videos I can’t find no one that drove them like we did!!! Btw that’s your oil pressure gauge that’s not reading maybe be just a loose wire or may need a new wiring harness which you may find on JC Whitney

I had an 87 same color with ttops however it had the 5.7 oh and if knows for what reason, why did my stock speedo read 160mph? After I sold my car years ago i never came across another one that read 160mph.

It had to have been changed from stock at some point. The speedos got changed in late 1985 from an 85 mph to 145 mph unit. The Ford Mustang kept there 85 mph speedo until late in '89 before switching them over. In short, the 160 is NOT an original.

Sweet ride! You can always tell the 86's because of the third brake light up high on the glass. Only model year it was up there. Glad to hear you actually drive it. Check out the 3rd gen fest in Crete, IL every memorial day weekend. ROC on dude!

I had an 1988 Iroc with 5.7 for many years. Fun car to drive but hard on my back after driving all day. Took it to Germany and South Korea before it got stolen in Washington State, never recovered.

How do you know if it is true IROC? I’m looking into buying one and would like to know. I’ve been told that if the 8th Digit in the VIN# is an 8 it’s an IROC. It also indicates that it’s a 350. Please let me know!

The way to tell best is through the RPO code sheet in the center console. If it's an 85-87 car, look for RPO code B4Z, which indicates the IROC package. If it's an 88-90 car, RPO code Z28 indicates an IROC-Z model.

Simple green. Purple power. Spray it all over. Real heavy like. Then let it sit for 5 mins then rinse it off. Do that twice. That engine bay will look better. Maybe scrub some thick dirt,

I ordered a loaded one with the 350 tpi for '87. Same color and it included rear window louvers which were indeed a factory option. I sold it after owning it 18 years, only had 20,200 miles when I let it go.
