1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

With tightening emissions regulations and fuel economy standards, it seemed that the muscle car was destined for extinction. Then in 1983 after twelve years of retirement the Monte Carlo SS was reintroduced. Based on the standard G body platform the Monte Carlo SS featured a sleeker front fascia, rear spoiler, hefty V8, and color coded European body. The Monte Carlo SS was a hit with the public whose options were less than enthusiastic given the recent emissions regulations and oil embargos. The SS was also a born winner in the NASCAR world where it found itself as one of the most winning body styles in NASCAR history. Bathed in its original black paint this 20k mile survivor car is one of the best examples of the Monte Carlo SS around. Everything on this car is exactly the way it came from the factory down to the original belts and hoses with GM date stamps to match. beautiful car, my 1988 SS is also black, replaced the carb with a 750 quadrajet from a 84 impala, hooker headers and real dual exhaust, better aftermarket distributor, line-lock, etc. have had some nice street cars in my 62 years but these are special.

I have an 87 SS now, and I'd love to put t he original style Good Year eagle GT tires back on (they are reproduced), but they are wicked expensive. I settled for BFG Radial T/A's in the correct size.

Really nice Monte Carlo would love to have this one this is probobley my favorite interior/exterior color combo I remember working for a Chevrolet dealership in Naperville I'll, I worked in the parts Dept not bad money at that time I used to see these Monte Carlo,s being unloaded off the car carrier,s all the time!! BRAND SPANKING NEW!!!!! some with only 12 miles on them remember the black/burgundy ones got a chance to drive a bunch of them nice cars at the time I owned the Z-28 but the Monte,s caught my eye I almost baught one, I would have gotten an employee discount!!🙂🙂🙂😊

Back in '86, all the GM g body performance cars (442, Grand national/T-type, Monte Carlo SS) were attention getters. Grand Prix 2 + 2's were great, too, but they had the LG4 305. Although no comparison to their predecessors, the Chevelle SS, 442, GS, GTO, they were a bright spot in a dismal decade. Weak by todays standards, but mid sized muscle cars were back, at least for a while... I was 24 & single in 86, but these cars were a bit out of my reach... but I own an SS now!!
