My first motorcycle was a 1986 Rebel 450. I bought it in 1993. Unfortunately, in 1994 it was totaled when someone turned left right in front of me. I'm glad I wasn't totaled.

On the opposite side of the battery, there is a tool compartment with a lock on it. Did you happen to open it and find the original tool kit? it should be in a blue vinyl bag with the feeler gunge on the outside in a slip cover. Inside that bag is a tool for every part of that bike. Honda made an amazing machine. I have an 1986 and bought it as the second owner in 1989. It has 15K and runs smooth as silk. Bought it as a starter bike and never bought another.

I just bought one of these for my first bike. I'm in love. It doesn't have it's original paint thought, it was painted silver. Haha the rumbling exhaust gets me alot of attention. Everyone who sees it loves it. In Canada and being only 1900 sold I feel like I've found a lost treasure.

I like everything about the 450 except they made them for only 2 years which means forget finding parts, and the parts are not interchangable with the 250. I ended up getting a CM450 by accident (not CMX450) and it's got the right amount of power for me. I have a CMX250 too at its much more fun and controlable but hates interstates.

On the 250, the rims are steel, not aluminum, for sure. Same for the spokes. I know because yeah they rust. Alluminum don't rust like steel rusts. They are chromed, yes, but not alluminum. I wish they had been made out of aluminum for sure. I don't remember anything at all alluminum on my Rebel 250. All steel that's been chromed or painted.
