I was always taught to turn the engine over without firing it up before you started that way you have oil to the top cylinders in Honda V45 Magna suck for oil to the top end

I also have a 1986 Honda vf700c Magna and am trying to put the Wix 51334 filter on it but it seems like it is too wide and hits the exhaust when I try to screw it in, did you have this problem?

Ist aber nicht ganz korrekt, was hier gezeigt wird. Das Ablassen des Motoröles sollte gerne bei warmen Motor durchgeführt werden. Der Grund: Ist das Motoröl Warm, ist es dünner und es "schwemmt" beim ablassen des Öles, auch kleine Partikel vom Boden der Ölwanne hinaus. Der Ölstand wird, wie es sich gehört, auf einen Waagerechten Untergrund, mit Hilfe des Mittelständers vorgenommen. Die Ölstandskontrolle wird nur durch hineinstecken des Peilstabes vorenommen, keineswegs wird bei eingschraubten Peilstab, der Ölstand gemessen. Wird das Ölfilter auch ausgetauscht, so muss der Motor erst aufgestartet werden, und so lange laufen, bis die Ölstandskontroll-Lampe erloschen ist, Dan ca 3 Minuten warten, bis das Öl in den Zylinderköpfen, wieder in die Ölwanne abgeflossen ist

1895? 😅 I'm guessing you meant 1985, I'm not terribly familiar with the different models, but I would assume so, I cant imagine they changed much between those model years.

@@zfixation9817 Yes, I meant the 1985. Typographical mistakes happen very often by everyone, and that time when I wrote it was night time and I was a bit tired, so you understand. The reason why I'm asking is because the 1984 VF700 Magna looks quite different, especially on the wheels, and perhaps a bit on the dimensions as well, than the 1985 and 1986 which look almost identical, and the 1987 VF700 Super Magna can't say anything about that. It's just the most different.

Shouldn't you check the oil level with the motorcycle upright instead of on the kickstand? That might be why it registered low. You may have overfilled it.

David Moore it was on the center stand. Its perfectly fine ro fill the oil on the center stand and used exactly the amount its supposed to. Keep in mind, the filter and area in the head that pools oil are both going to be refilled when you first run the engine after the oil change.

you need to wait at least 5 minutes before cheking your oil stick after the enige has run! it needs time to run down at the lowest point.

expensive oil change ! my friends, family and i, all use rottela deisel oil . ive got a 85 vf700 sabre, same engine. no issues at all, 14 bucks for 5 quarts, no clutch slippage after 8k miles n 4 oil changes

Nick B I also use rotella in my v rod, Springer and my 87 magna 700. Works great. 5 years using and no issues.
