This is my 87 5th Ave, acquired in Feb. 2018. I finally got around to making a video which includes the interior, exterior, engine compartment, and trunk. Enjoy!

Thanks I put over 300,000 miles on one's of those cars! I've had lots of cars and the Chrysler fifth avenue 1987 was one of the best I ever had!

Im 22 and just bought an '88 Fifth Ave this week for $1500 I've completely fallen in love with it. It's so smooth and it sounds great. Steering is phenomenal, headliner is sagging obviously, but I'm amazed at the deal I got so far. Also lol'd at your remark, my brother in law also made a joke about fitting "at least six bodies in that trunk." never been a car guy, but buying this has instilled inspiration in me, hence me looking at every KZbin video I can, trying to find tutorials
@junkiejackflash5 жыл бұрын
I'd love to find a tutorial on some engine things, and maybe working inside the doors (my front passenger side window control won't work, and the back driver side window needs help when closing it.) Or also maybe fixing the radio, my speakers are alright, but the radio and tape deck won't turn on at all. Antenna still comes up perfectly. Only 94,000 miles on mine. Really loved the video!

I'd never really heard of them, or I guess noticed them, but I picked mine up for $1500, 94,000 miles. Perfect for a daily driver, previous owners just took it to NJ and back (I live in central PA) with no issues.

Oh I was disappointed at the end I was hoping there was a part 2. I really like the blue interior and those seats look super comfy. I'd like to find a New Yorker from that time period. My boss used to let me take his out on the road when I was a Salesman for a Lumber Company. From what I can remember it was more like floating on down the road then rolling.

Yeah, I just took mine's out of the garage a few days ago and washed it. They got some headliner spray adhesive that I'm going to use to get that headliner back to the original condition. I was born in 81, so I guess we're only a couple years apart. Mine's is an 85 though, almost the same color too. But I got the light grey like interior.😕🙂🤓🤠😎😏👍✌️👋👏💪🌾🍀🌿🍃🇺🇸

I'm glad that you were able to save another 5th Ave, they're getting rarer by the day. Luckily, the guy who bought mine 3 years ago still loves the car. Last I knew he had nearly 200K on the clock. Best of luck to you getting it back to it's original glory!
@tomlewis36585 жыл бұрын
I still have a K car (Aries wagon), and also used to have an Acclaim, and I replaced the headliner on each of them. I was pleasantly surprised (on the Acclaim) that the headliner backing board was flexible, and I was able to remove it through the passenger front door. The K car is a wagon, so I removed it without bending it, through the rear wagon opening. The I removed the old fabric & stuck the new fabric on, outside the car. If that backing board is flexible, like it was in the Acclaim, it would not be very difficult. Good luck with that if you do replace it. It's a pleasure to see a clean 80's Mopar like this.

The most rare 5th avenues of this generation 1982-1989 have the optional power moonroof and alloy wheels. Most were sold with the optional leather and power seats. Baby blue was a very popular color. Beautiful car. Nice to see someone who loves these cars restore it back to its former glory. Hope you put the original radio back in the dash too.

Front end design on that fifth ave came from the 1977-1980 Chrysler Le Baron and the LeBaron coupe Medallion That car was designed to look slightly like the 1975-1979 Cadillac Seville. I missed the old Chrysler’s, I once rented a 1992 White Chrysler 5th Ave. during that time the only great Chrysler dodge product was the Viper.

my parents had one around 1999 and it only had around 89,000 or so on it. it had valour interior. the only 3 things that didnt work the power locks didnt work right where the locks would auto pull down so far on the back doors where they wouldnt move unless u played with the power lock switch a little. another thing that never worked was the temp guage and also the cassette part of the original radio while it did work it took alot of off on before it would take the tape entirely and play. the one we had was white and red. before this one we had a 1985 diplomat that was wrecked. sadly the fate of this 1987 was the trans was going out and it was bad. it would either be hard to move from park to reverse or reverse to drive and then it ended up really growling badly and my late father at the time sold it for 800 and a guy bought it and threw 2,000 of trans work into it. it had maybe at best when we got rid of it 90 some thousand if even that. the car that replaced it was a 1990 new yorker almost totally 100% top of the line just minus 2 things the overhead computer and the digital dash.
@pkranz9374 жыл бұрын
This car would have the A998 transmission. 1987 was the last year for shag carpet. Should have 2 crystal keys. Driver power seat was std. Power pass seat was optional through '89. The M bodies got an airbag in May of '88.

One thing about Chrysler, it was an innovative company, however when it came to follow through they sure made some fugly cars. The 5th Ave was a good looking car however what the hell were they thinking in the design of the dash. It seriously looks like a dodge truck.
@doug90665 жыл бұрын
These were nice cars in the 80's, now days in my opinion Chrysler Corporation don't make nice luxury cars for my taste that is.
@steveg93025 жыл бұрын
Doug Mammaro that’s because they made the 300c a “affordable luxury sedan”. They made it look like a rolls Royce, yet once you get in it you realize the interior is worse than a fiat panda. Why did they do this? No idea... they should have made the 300c more expensive and exclusive and use more leather and actual wood.
