Happy memories... My grandfather gave his '87 New Yorker - in that hideous Rosewood Mist colour - to me and my brothers when he bought a new '97 Intrepid. (He'd been a Chrysler man since about '65, when four teenage boys passed him on the highway and hooted at my future mother and aunt, and his Chev was powerless to get away. That mid-60s Chrysler 440 was hard to beat. After that he had a Cordoba - upholstered in fine, Corinthian leather - before the '87 New Yorker.) I used to aim for the trifecta when parking: as I recall, the trick was to open the door just before stopping, then switch off the car with the headlights on. All at once, the car would say 'A door is ajar. Your headlights are on. Don't forget your keys!' Upon removing the keys, switching off the headlights and closing the door, it'd say "Thank you, thank you, thank you." Not at all, car, not at all.

I think I'd prefer this in modern cars rather than the beeps and dings they usually come with (although I did once drive a 2007 Hyundai with an actual mechanical chime in it for a bit, which I found nice). Pretty much equally annoying, but you know better what's going on, and this is the only car I've ever seen that thanks you for fixing the problem it alerts you about.

I laughed when it said "Don't forget your keys". The unfortunate thing is, if you heard that every time you stopped the car, you'd get used to it so quickly that you wouldn't hear it anymore, meaning that you could very easily forget your keys even if the car told you not to.

Hearing it again but in English really brings me back as the voice sounds exactly like I remember it.

When i was 4, my babysitter had a new yorker in black. I want to say it was an 86, 87, or an 88 turbo. this model new yorker is basically a k-car loaded with options and a name change from relient / ares k .since the drive train is the same as a k-cars power plant this car wouldve been sweet if chrysler had a v6 option but the v6's where avail starting around the later 80's and into the early 90's when they came out with the dynasty's and acclaims thats also when chrysler moved the newyorker /lebaron cars over from the k-car chassis to the bigger heavier plymouth acclaim and dodge dynasty chassis which offered a v6 or 2.5 4 cyclender or a multiport fuel injected turbo charged 2.2 engine

I thought it added just a little more to the 87 NY.
