I found this radio in mint condition thrown away in a goodwill dumpster. Awesome radio, can’t believe someone would just toss this away in the garbage.

I had a relative with this radio, and to this day ive not heard a radio with the same quality sound(for a radio of its type), and ability to pull in longer distance radio stations. For sure, it's one of the best radios ive ever found.

I do kind of regret selling this radio, because it was indeed a very good performer. I may pick up another one at some point.

I bought one of these from Goodwell many years ago and to this day it is my favorite radio. Every time I come back home, I turn this on and I lay on my bed and let the music drag me away.

They are nice radios, and you probably got a good deal on it at Goodwill too.

Raul Martinez you prolly got it for like $5. I paid $60 for my SR2. Bought my SR3 of the shelf @ farm & fleet for $30. Both are great tho.

I just purchased one on eBay for my desk at work. My family had one when I was a kid in the 80's so it's a trip having one again... I think I'm going to conver the AM band into a bluetooth receiver as well, so I can play modern music on it.

I have the GE Superadio II, it's made in Malaysia. Later GE Superadio II's are made in China. I really like this radio for AM DXing, the new Sangean ATS-405 is actually just as good. It's a much smaller radio.
@50sTransistorRadios7 жыл бұрын
I didn't know GE had moved production of that model, I wonder it they also made some circuit changes. I haven't tried any of Sangean's radios, but that one seems to have good reviews.

Very nice radio. I do some AM DX-ing sitting out on the patio in the summer, and often wished I had one of these. Do you sell on eBay? What's your name there?
@50sTransistorRadios11 жыл бұрын
I do occasionally sell on eBay, but I have not sold anything in while. I do plan on selling this set, but I am going to wait until after thanksgiving. I want to change my eBay account name before I post it here because I used my real name when I made it.

Wow. Immacculate!! I have an SR 2 and a 3. Both are great. 2 is a little better, but not much. I bought mine for listening 2 baseball. Live in north-central IL. Can p/u st. Louis (kmox), milwaukee (wtmj) and cincy (wlw). Along w/chicago (cubs/sox) and espn baseball. Great radio. Lotta fun

I had all three at one time. The II is the best and that was the one I sold like a fool. The first is a very good performer and the III was a piece of junk that I threw in the trash. The downside of the first one is there is a tab on the pulley for the dial string that breaks easily and you must be careful opening the radio, the on/off power switch is easy to damage. I also have the Radio Shack Realistic first version which is also a very good performer on AM but it overloads badly on FM as I live near the transmit site of five Hartford FM stations.

+Jerry Carriera I ended up selling this set for quite a bit more than I paid, so I don't regret selling it too much, but I do miss this set a little. The power switch on this set is definitely flimsy, they should have used a better part. If I see another one at a good price point, I will probably buy it.

Jerry Carriera SR 3 wasnt bad. So long as u had the GE version. The RCA was junk tho. I have the 2 & 3 (GE version) both do a good job

My mom had that radio in about 1983.
@greatexpectations23077 жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure that was the superadio 1(which may not have been called exactly that, at the time) which looks fairly similar to the superadio II as shown in the video above. you can tell the difference by the addition of the little speaker in the right corner of the cabinet, being the first one only had one speaker. the super radio II was, as far as i can tell, manufactured from 1987-1991. These radios have a special reputation among radio enthusiasts, for their high quality sound and long rage capability even on AM.

Perhaps they moved production from one to the other, to cut costs even further.
