I have 85, I bought it new and I'm the only one to ever ride it. Still a good machine been in storage.

I started racing on 85 Tecate 3. I wanted the new model when it came out but oh well, Had it built and ready to go for 87 season. I had NO idea, but my dad went and traded it in for the Tecate-4. I was pissed. Knew for a fact quads would never replace 3 wheelers. To this day, I have never ridden an 86 or 87 Tecate 3. Did manage to launch the T4 over 2 school buses end to end for a show. I still have one, and if rolling chassis I could almost make two of them. I would be happy to trade that all for an 86 or 87 Tecate 3.

I have an 87 Tecate--84, 85, and 86 too. Been collecting for about 20 years now. I bought my 87 back in 2003 for $1400 when nobody was buying them. The 450 quad craze was just starting. I restore mine too but also ride them. I'd say my philosophy is resto-mod, so I'll put new tech on them like V-Force reeds, Keihin carbs, etc. I also use old-school aftermarket parts when I can find them. I've got a +2 Westcoast swinger on my 87--very hard to find. Keep up the good work.

Amazing work!!! I can relate to all the hard work and figuring the parts from the screws to chrome and black. I’ve torn this machine up and down and you are right on!! Down to decals. I love it. Great restore!!!
