1987 mariner 30 hp outboard

This video was filmed April 17, 2021, top speed of this motor was 28 miles Per hour a TH marine mini jacker Jack plate was Used while running this outboard.

Maybe try looking for a 1987 Yamaha 30 HP water pump i’ve had a hard time finding parts for mine because it seems like Mariners are made by three manufactures some parts are mercury some parts are Yamaha and some parts are mariner but I found a lot of the Yamaha parts are interchangeable with mariner I believe I got my water pump somewhere on eBay but here’s a link to one I found on Amazon that might be right www.amazon.com/689-44352-02-689-44352-02-00-689-44352-03-689-44352-00-00-47-81604M/dp/B016U2TYX0 but if this link is not the right one try looking at Yamaha 30 HP outboard parts you might be able to find one that way.

check spark compression and fuel. check your tank and carb!! also fuel pump

Doing a carb repair kit. What angle or position does the float got be in? Any chance ya know?

I have my float adjusted to about level with the carburetor I think, I had trouble with my carb repair kit I bought The new float that came with it if I remember right it set to low and it would idol all right but I would flood out the engine at the top end so I ended up just keeping the original float and replacing everything else it seem to work all right although after I rebuild the carb every once in a while it seems starved for fuel at the top end still haven’t figured out how to fix that yet at least with my Moter.

Wow, that motor is running great! I have the same motor but i believe my timing is off. Would you happen to have the timing intervals from the manual??

I cannot find a manual I bought for it so I don’t know the timing at the moment but if I find the manual I’ll let you know what the timing is but the manual I bought for it is “Mariner Outboards 25/W25/30/W30 Models OEM Service Repair Manual P/N M-90-84681” I think it’s for an older motor but it did work.

@@RonJKuschel1901 The manual for a 1980's Yamaha 30 will work too! These motors were made by Yamaha and then sold to Mercury. The Yamaha P/N is LIT-18616-MR-00.
