I miss this type of presentation by CBS. Ken Squire made every broadcast feel like the biggest of the year. This is the NASCAR I loved.

Love the roar of those old H-pipe exhaust cars. This is real racing. Stock bodied cars, bias ply tires, no pit road speed, etc. Back when you had to be a man to drive in NASCAR.

@@Djsweepaman these new generation of drivers probably don’t even know how to actually shift gears in a race car by actually having to use the clutch nor be able to man handle the cars Most of the old generation drivers would struggle with trying to figure out the radial tires
@Djsweepaman
@Djsweepaman 2 жыл бұрын
@@tritontransport well funny thing is, most of the grew up driving cars with clutches so they absolutely know how to use a clutch. Not mention while pitting they have to hold the clutch in. Just because it was harder in some senses back in whatever day you are referencing, doesn't mean it's not harder now. Richard Petty would be humbled with today's cup field. He raced multiple times a week and had factory funding in a car that was obviously far and above superior to most of the rest of the field.

Yep They had to build at least 200 of a car design to use it in nascar at that time. They built only 203 or 204 Monte Carlo ss aero coupes in 1986 and only sold 200 of them to to the general public at a few dealerships mainly in North Carolina . They’re quite valuable now

Back when nascar just let them race! Air cleaner problem on Allison’s car ? No big deal just take it off and head back out on the track. These days nascar would throw a fit and penalize the team $50,000 and suspend the crew chief for 3 weeks and take away 100 points

I’m sure it’s no easy task finding & posting these races & just a friendly reminder that we genuinely appreciate these uploads. So keep ‘Em coming & keep that shirts & hats in mind.

Absolutely found the aeroback on the lot. 1987 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe. Had to...it was still rules of homologation. Had to sell at least 500 production cars. There is always at least one for sale online every day. Edit: sorry,in 1986 200 was the homologation number, which is exactly how many they made. But they made 6600 something in 87 because of demand. Small numbers but they're out there on the market. Massively inflated prices of course. For that matter, try to find a Tbird with that much ground effect, if you want to talk about crap. Ford scammed nascar into giving them a huge aero advantage. You can find a monte that looks exactly like that, with the same height nose. Can't find a tbird with that huge front skirt. That said. The 87 Tbird is probably my favorite cup car ever as far as looks go. That or the Buick.
