He is one of my all time favorites. I have seen him at least 4-5 time through out his career. Great. He's playing an Abe Wechter guitar..beautiful.

I love his chord voicings. No one else touches that sound. His bass strings sounds are also amazing.

John Mc Laughlin's style is constituted of surprising fulgencies mixed with jazz harmony knowledge and he always has gathered the very best musicians coming from different universes. These characteristics are the elements that shaped and confirmed a totally unique signature. His work with Indian musicians has enriched his melodic lines repertoire and made of him an instrumentist ahead of his time and inspirational for the new generation of jazz fusion and beyond.

I love this tune by John McLaughlin, a great Jazz standard played with a wonderful flamenco flair by one of the greatest guitarists ever. Thank you very much for posting.

tremendous guitarist, one and only. very good sound and one of the worst camera director ever, who wants to see a guitar player from behind!!?? or an extreme close-up, many times out of focus. a shame.

I agree with your 1st sentence. But for me thereʻs something to be learned from all camera angles, especially if they can all be shown simultaneously. From the left, straight on, from the right, front, back, top (birdʻs-eye/aerial). Of course, full screen size is needed then, so the windows are not too small.

He has tuned down? Anybody knows which tuning?
@chrissealartfeel13003 жыл бұрын
At least the E string to D
@geirnordhy52922 жыл бұрын
Thanx. He also used often «Standard A tuning» in solo shows around ca.1978-85. This means each string is tuned down 3 and 1/2 step. A perfect fifth. You get a «Bluesy»sound. But it is difficult to get this right! I use an old Ovation which stays in that tuning.

Standard tuning but bottom E down to A.

Great camera work, but who’s the guy on the guitar?
@stephen451 Жыл бұрын
An incredible and inspiring performance largely ruined by some of the worst live-music camera work you will ever see. What a terrible shame. Five stars for McLaughlin; a revoked photography degree for the camera person/director.
