I used Psyche Out as he is, he is actually one of my favorite characters. I used the receivers as sound generators, to stun the enemy.

Always wished he came with a helmet like Breakers that had a receiver connected to his helmet. And when I played with him he was always the first one to get killed.

I had this guy. I didn't know the 'p' in his name was silent, which is my oldest memory of learning about psychology. Anyway to your initial question, I mostly did play with him as intended. I had the idea that with his dishes he could control Cobra guys. More dishes meant more control. He could have them do things akin to Prof. X in X-Men, such as make them open doors for the Joes, give up weapons, etc. I thought it was a neat concept. Looking back, I'm fascinated as this character. I think it's not too far-fetched considering many military experiments have purportedly been done to try and interfere with the brain's abilities during battle. As a toy, I lost the wrist dishes fairly early on and the wire in his head bent pretty quickly.

@frombx257 he kinda replaced breaker dialtone and mainframe as my computor and comunication specialist as a kid but psyche-out did appear in the dic gi joe cartoon season s02 in his v2 bleu outfift

Jeez Kevin, that ending animation was legitimately creepy. Psyche Out may look a little silly, but fear the 50's radar dishes!

Always paired psyche out with sci fi

Cool figure. At first I thought figure was an Owen Wilson GI Joe figure.

One strange detail is the face on his chest piece which does not show up on the card art but it does on the figure.

I had the Night Force repaint. Always used him as the radio operator when I played with my Joes.

In the 80s & 90s, Fort Bragg Nc did have SOF & psych units. They fell under civil affairs. psyops was fairly new but mi(intel) mostly use it.

Some really cool sculpting on this guy. I mirror your sentiment of thinking it'd be nicer with some more paint callouts on the finer details. That knife looks great on his leg, and it's a shame it's so blended in.

great review Kevin! i never thought to use him on the Flagg as an air traffic controller. I like to use him as the driver of my 1989 battlefield robot radar rat and use the dish as an amplifier for his generator!

You say you don't know how kids could use the mind paranoia gun thingy. Uh hello they're kids, it's called imagination they can make it do anything they want.

Lets just be honest... that was a weird year! Psych Out was used as his filecard kind of said, to mess with the enemy's mind. That is, until I ran out of ideas because I was just a kid and psychological warfare ESCAPED me a little! After that, he ditched the wrist radar dishes, went full comm OFFICER with that backpack and headphones, and made good use of that killer pistol he came with! His crappy dish toolbox was used as an explosive device when the mission was complete too! Or they all jammed out to whatever was on the radio!lol Didn't mind the neon! It was everywhere in those days!

I had the nightforce version of Psyche-Out and I would just use him as a regular soldier
@nobdydoh42637 жыл бұрын
HEY IT'S THAT DUDE ROBO Thanks for mentioning that version, I'll have to look it up. I only like the more "military" looking Joes...and I like this figure, but the colors are a bit out there.

I got this figure around the same time I learned in history about the government using music and noise pollution to attack people like Castro. I figured Psyche-Out would do similar work.
