Sadly, this superb Allez has a problem with its drive side fork. How can it be fixed? I'd like to know. More on this and much more at: www.thevelocollective.com See more at: www.thevelocollective.com Graystar on KZbin: • Video

Its actually a 1986 Allez SE based upon the color scheme and decals. The 1987s had a different decal set up. It could well have been sold originally in 1987, but its a 1986. I still have my 1986 Minx Blue Allez SE, my first ever racing bike. Assuming that you can get it fixed up, just slap a replacement carbon fork on it and she'll ride beautifully.

As an owner of an 85 Trek 560 and a 90ish Colnago super I have to say American bikes of that period seem underrated and a real bargain. Even without the original fork that Allez is absolutely worth rebuilding and would run rings around anything three times the price and with a more "desirable" name.....

Nice find 👍🏽! Not so sure if the fork can be saved if it is that bad. If you find an easy solution please post! Nice project ahead of you 🚲🔥

It's a typical manufacturing defect. most of those bikes built at that time had forks like that it was sloppy automation.
