This is an awesome interview bro! More enjoyable and informative than the previous one with the girl, who seem to be experiencing server issues (she was lagging) That day I was drafting behind u at TMCR (u got dropped from your pack) and some money fly off from your jersey (cos u bouncing on your saddle) so I pick it up and return to you

Oompa loompa its a blessing you had this guy on. Amonsgt very others who give a you a real indepth insight and are familiar with technical. Your show is the only one which actually interviews the actual riders and we get a true review of a bike. But sadly most of the Singaporeans on your show were merely enthusiast and just bought the bike for the sake of it. Some tried to hold on there confirmation bias and justified there purchase. Hence it felt like an extended advertisement of a bike. This amonsgt few others are the rare video uploads that i just sat back and watched it full

Same perception. Mean while im still currently riding my emonda alr 5 with direct mount rim brakes. It does the job for daily riding. At the same time, prices of rim brake drivetrain are now cheaper than the hydraulic counterpart. Easy to maintain and replace.

When we went to aluminum from steel there wasn't time for aluminum to fully mature before titanium and carbon came along. It's good to see it getting revisited and optimized. I think there's a lot of room for improvement.

Same story with direct mount rim brakes. If only it had enough time to saturate the market between single mount rim brakes and hydraulic disc brakes..

12:22 what he’s trying to say is, despite it having a heavy wheel set (CK hubs with deep wheels without carbon spokes) the bike responded so reactively. Meaning, the frame is (material + geometry) punching above its class when it comes to this new Allez’s ‘handling.’
@ariffau
@ariffau 7 ай бұрын
How a bike rides or how a bike handles is often an overlooked aspect when buying a bike. Predominantly because most people ride bikes IronMan / TT style; sustained steady state effort. They coast down hills, brake looooong before a corner. Heck, some even brake when descending in a straight line. But I don’t ride like that. I like carving corners, dive bombing apexes and flicking the bike explosively 😂 personally I won’t buy a bike that handles like a truck. Basically, how a bike rides, how a bike handles, how responsive the bike is would be the most biggest determining factor when purchasing a bike. That being said, I hope more bike shops provide test rides and/or demo bikes prior to purchase.

I bought allez sprint 23 when my bmc slr01 broke. I rode the allez for 1.5 year, felt happy with it. I actually believed the hype that allez is as fast as carbon. But when my bmc was fixed and i got back to carbon, i realized how much stiffer,responsive my BMC carbon frame is. Allez is alot flexier at the bottom bracket area. So... allez cant beat carbon for sure. Maybe cheap carbon.

What do you mean carbon killer, are you gonna try to crash into any carbon bike when you see one to kill the bike? Just kidding, yea, Allez is a top tier alu frame, I'll put Allez as the same cat with caad12. These 2 definitely way better than lots of entry-mid tier carbon frame that could cost more.

I'm riding caad 13 with directmount rimbrakes, with carbon frame i can only compare canyon aeroad cf.sl 7 what I use to ride before caad 13. I know this canyon wasn't top tier carbon version but was a lot flexier than caad in rear triangle

so did specialized make up some names for aluminium what is e5 aluminium. last time i checked theres 6k and 7k series aluminium, 7k is high end 6k is cheap. i wouldnt be surprised if specialized uses different names to get away with using 6000 series aluminium, since its cheaper and easier to work with.

That's done on purpose as you need flex in rear triangle that has nothing to do with acceleration needed at BB area stiffness

rims give more compliance than frames by miles, and seat posts and tires contribute to over 90 percent compliance of a bike, the frame is like 5-10 percent at most. be careful what you attribute a comfortable bike to, its not the frame broski

Just shows you. This guy has tested so many high end bikes and found the magic with allez sprint. This is only applicable to performance oriented riders aiming for stiffness. I am quite content with my japanese bike stiffness but after all the research. Look aero light 695 l, allez sprint and time bike are my favourite contenders. Any other uci legal frame is just burning your cash for nothing

Aluminum is aluminum, what high end aluminum, did they include gold(Au) into the alloy mix? Absorbed too much marketing smokes.
@ariffau

glad you asked! “its an aluminium alloy with ZINC as the primary alloying element. It has excellent mechanical properties and exhibits good ductility, high strength, toughness, and good resistance to fatigue.” - Wikipedia Also from Wikipedia on another mix of aluminium used on bikes “is a precipitation-hardened aluminium alloy, containing MAGNESIUM and SILICON as its major alloying elements. Originally called "Alloy 61S", it was developed in 1935. It has good mechanical properties, exhibits good weldability, and is very commonly extruded” I learn something new everyday. Thanks for asking.

@@ariffauIf I'm not mistaken, 7000 series aluminium alloys are the ones with zinc in their compositions.
@kailoonteo1719

There is limitation on design of alloy bikes, mainly metal is isotropic ie the material is uniform 3D so can only play with butt, weld, shape to improve stiffness. Carbon is single directional (anisotropic) so the frame ride quality can be engineered with different fibers at different areas to perform specific function. So carbon frame can be light, stiff laterally and comfortable vertically. The potential of alloy frames is very limited and surely not the cutting edge of bike tech. I owned an Allez for 4 years and onced I switched to carbon I realised how much specialized marketing smoke I had believed.
