My atv its a 225 but i call it a 250 because we bored it out 3 time.

I had one as a kid. Same color. I eventually put Wooly Boogers on it too. At the time it was one of the biggest machines out there. My favorite feature about it was it’s high and low and reverse shifter on the left side of the engine. Thing was a tank. I hauled many deer out of the woods with that ATV.

I bought one back in 1986 just like your and put it to the test of 8 people and a quarter barrel of beer .Always did it..I was driving down a hill with with 8 people and noticed a tire going by and that was my back tire.I broke the axle clean off!!!! I Repeat do not have 2 people on the front rack and 3 people on the back rack with 3 people on the seat or 2 people on the seat and me on the gas tank..Very strong and well made machine..

I have the exact same wheeler and it’s amazing. So tough and durable. I have new mud tires on it and it’s just all around such a fun wheeler. I bought it from my neighbor a few years ago for about 400 bucks. And yeah one problem is the flooding. It sucks.

I got this quad for FREE, from my Realtor, when I bought a home - 25 years ago. It was sitting in his garage - 4 flat tires. I asked him about it, and he said "just come pick it up - it's yours". The ONLY thing I've done in 25 years is to put tubes in the tires, and change out the carb. It starts every single time I need it to, and runs like it did from the beginning. Yamaha built a nice machine. No 4-wheel capabilities, but it basically works like 4-wheel in low-gear. Even just 225cc's, it will pull a small trailer up a hill in the woods in low gear. Top speed is probably 35mph, which is just fine. A free quad, for a quarter century, that starts every time... and runs fantastically. It does tend to stall out in warmer temperatures after running it for a while. But, hey - we all get tired when we get older.

I wouldn't paint it I'd give it a really good cleaning and use a heat gun and restore the plastic

I had the exact same machine color and all back in middle school and HS It was such a simple machine high low range 225cc the thing never quit on us tough as nails it was

At the time i had a bad mic on my phone. U should look for one that has one owner if possible and observe their other machines if they dont take care of them they didnt take care of the atv. I have never tested the weight but it can do most jobs. It should hold 2 130lbs. Persons just fine

Mine used to flood so I took the carb off today and gave it a good clean and blowout with an airline and cleaned the jets out(Very easy job to do),check that the float is fitted correctly .I also renewed fuel petcock as it was letting fuel pass thru even though it was turned off (The seals were old )try yours.....turn the fuel off and pull the pipe off and see if fuel still come out.My old petcock filters were really grubby too.I just need to set the mixtue screw in the right place now.

Hey, there's a trick to restoring faded plastic using a heat gun or a torch. You can KZbin it there's a shit ton of videos showing how to do it. I have the exact same quad and I restored the plastics and put some led headlights. Looks badass.

I have a kind if rare color but I have a 1986 black with a red seat and man that thing is tough! 27 years no major problems except regular things like battery tires gas oil etc.

Not sure if you have painted your machine yet, however I did my red Moto 4, 250 this spring with plastic paint from Walmart. Don't recall the brand but it cleaned up the faded look and makes it look much younger. Make sure you sand off the oxidation first!.

I don't need paint anymore the was a lot of old dried mud that really stuck and I took a rag and water and really scrubed it down now its a nice clearer blue
