It's really so cool that some of these guys are still at it today. Amleto just got through competing in a PBA 50 event and looks just as good.

Todd H. Thompson & Joe Firpo are both 17 days older than me. As of late, Firpo is a new car salesman down in Florida? Not sure what Thompson is up to?

At the time I think this was the second highest 4-game total shot by a player on TV with Holman shooting 1035/4. Nelson Burton Jr shot 1050/4 at the 1984 Angle Open in Florrisant, Missouri. Prior to Burton Jr's record, Larry Laub held the record with 1021/4 at the 1972 King Louie Open in Overland Park, Kansas.

You're correct. Holman actually shot a 1032; otherwise, you're right on!

@DontCareBear. You're right. I added up the scores. Marshall Holmen shot a 1,035.

@@lynettepalecek3141 Yes it was a great performance from Holman. He'd gone close before but had had a poor last game to miss out, 1977 Ford Open in Alameda, California as a good example. At the time there weren't too many players that had shot 1000+ on TV for 4 games, plenty of big 3-game sets though. Dave Husted shot 1011/4 in winning the 1982 US Open in Houston, Texas. I think Steve Jones went close in the 1975 King Louie Open where Mark Roth shot the 299 to take the title. Then resin happened and the records came tumbling down...

@@normanheggstrom9854 in the first commercial break they checked and found them not to be working so they must've been aware he was fouling. Curt Schmidt was appointed as foul judge from the fourth frame of the first game.

Didn't see his foot work to know if he fouled in the 2nd frame or not? He definitely fouled in the 1st & 3rd frames & got away with it. Became inconsequential when he lost the match. His 228 was a gift. As Bo stated, he did bowl a credible game, outside of the fouling. Couldn't tell if he was warned about the apparent foul after the 3rd frame, or if he was just awaiting his rerack. Whatever transpired, it was enough for Harry Golden to dispatch Curt Schmidt down there to monitor the foul lines.
