This is beautiful, Bill. I have a soft spot in my heart for these Fifth Avenues. You really have to give Chrysler a lot of credit on this car. They did a nice job of taking what was at it's soul a durable police car or taxi and transforming it into a genuinely plush, lavishly appointed luxury car. They may not be as roomy or plentiful as a Grand Marquis, but they are special.

A very high qulity interior that looks like new. You could sit on those seats all day and not feel uncomfortable. Even the doors have the same padded finish that lifts this car above the rest. Today all we get is thin soft touch coating that goes stick very quickley. Can't wait to see the results of your paint correction Bill.

Yes they did a fine job in their interiors.

A lot people give this car a bad rap but they were everywhere back in the day and they seemed to be pretty solid dependable cars. Some called them Chryslers "Seville!" I had a coworker that traded a '81 T-Bird (barf) for a '85 Fifth Avenue that was silver with dark blue velour and instead of the spoke hubcaps hers had the optional aluminum wheels in sort of a honeycomb design - beautiful car. She liked it so much she kept it until her passing in 2012 and as far as I know never had any problems with it

I think these do get a bad rap and way underrated

What a pretty Gal she is Bill. The boys and girls at Chrysler really excelled with quality and plushness in these years. We had nothing so beautiful here in Australia these years. WOW, exactly if not more stunning than I expected. Gives my Rolls Royce Shadow a run for her money. Exquisite Bill...please keep us posted.

Owned one. I installed a mopar orange box performance ignition kit on it and later it blew a head gasket. Interior technology was stuck in the 60's with coils under seat cushions and metal clips, and screws, used to attach the door panels. This was why Chrysler had to develop the LH cars because they were so far behind the competition it was their last hope.

An amazing coincidence: Bill of Curious Cars just did a video on the same car, but an '89. Same color, same everything except the steering wheel, which got an airbag in '89. You may have seen it, I imagine.

Very Nice, It's a shame the big three phased out those seats, They continued in the convertion vans for a bit . But I don't think they offer them anymore . The detail on the outside with the vents on the fenders and chrome work was from a decade past. Interior the same way. The wood grain the handles, lighting, the dash and instruments and the seats. You know the person driving is thinking ,"I'm somebody get out of my way!"

WOW !! Bill that interior is so beautiful. A neighbor had this car, but with a white exterior and funhouse red interior. This one is a much nicer color combo. Amazing how the 5th Avenue started out as a Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare and with a lot of padded vinyl covering a fiberglass roof cap, turned it into a very luxurious car with an amazing interior.

It's too bad that Chrysler didn't see fit to continue with the M-body cars beyond the 1989 model year; there definitely was a steady loyal customer base for these vehicles. Those Chrysler seats were super-comfortable, whether they were leather or velour. It would be nice if the manufacturers would make seats this comfortable in modern-day vehicles. I'm sure that lots of folks would agree with this sentiment.

Looking at the seats in this car made me think ....... what was THE FIRST Post war car to have button tufted seats? I came up with the 1972 Oldsmobile 98. Am I correct? Does anyone know of any other auto maker that did button tufted seats prior to this? I know it became very popular mid to late 70s with literally almost all American Auto makers having at least one model that offered seats like this. Very comfortable and over the top as they say LOL You know how to find these GEMS Bill thats all I can say.
