Man i dig these trucks, i tore apart a junked title 87 d150 in my driveway and put the suspension on a 47 1 ton dodge panel truck, the redtop brand new steering box is leaking from input shaft after 500 miles, wtf, also got a 85 d150 put new heads headers 4 barrel intake holley 650 90,000 on 318 runs like a top, thanks for video

When i got the gear put back in, the leak was fixed but now the power steering only works to the right. 😂😢 So I’m pretty sure i messed something up with the gear itself but not sure what. Do you know how to tell what gear box to purchase as a replacement? Standard/reverse? 25 or 31 spline? Straight out groove shaft? Out of my depth here for sure. Lol.

@@desertdogsgaragemetalworks3843 at 11:39 when you use the screwdriver to pop out the thicker inner seal. Mine won’t budge at all.

@@daniellarkin9182 Interesting its in there good then. It should come out, it is just tapped in with a hammer and socket and you can destroy it by pulling it out it won't hurt nothing and you just replace it with the a new lip seal and make sure you put the new seal in with the lip facing toward the inside of the gear box, You can KZbin that kind of seal install, Just be careful that you don't tear up the cap that you are pulling it out of because that is the important piece you need, Most seals like that are normally destroyed when taking them out so you are not doing any thing bad mine just came out easy. Its not a bad idea also when installing that kind of seal only, to clean all surfaces and put some sealant on the outer round part of the seal before installing. Just helps it stay in there.
