Never knew that NASCAR raced in Australia. Learned something new today, thank you 😊
@Streetw1s3rАй бұрын
They done a few USA vs Australia races, officially sanctioned by NASCAR. Though they were non-championship races, I am pretty sure.

First time I ever heard of Australia NASCAR.
@Streetw1s3rАй бұрын
@@hoppes9658 It was short lived, only went on for about 15 years before it went bust due to a lack of interest in 2001 or 2002.

Thanks for posting this! I didn’t get to see it back in the day, and eventually forgot about it.

I remember when this race happened, read about it in Autoweek a few days later, saw the pictures, but never thought I'd actually be able to SEE the race.

These guys were hard-core stockcar drivers.

Ah. Neil Bonnett won on Hoosiers at the start of the 1988 tire war between Hoosier and Goodyear. Three races, three straight wins and 24k miles traveled
@BSNFabricatingАй бұрын
And he also finished fourth in the Daytona 500 -- all this just a few months after shattering his right leg at Charlotte.

Wonder why Dale didn't race this race 🤔
@bubwal23xifanАй бұрын
It was an exhibition race. There was no points being paid. Dale wanted to focus on winning the championship. Also logistically, going 10k miles to Australia for a race didn't make much sense to Dale and Richard Childress.
@Redwood-vi8hoАй бұрын
@bubwal23xifan yea, I was thinking 🤔 that, but still once in a lifetime

You uploaded a much shorter version of this 7 years ago. What's the difference?
@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YTАй бұрын
This is longer. The other one was like over an hour and almost 20 minutes long
@SMIFFTVАй бұрын
Other one was condensed highlighted coverage, this one was the full race, start to finish
