This is a fantastic restoration. Thanks! It's the best I've seen in terms of demonstrating the Maestro's right and left hand techniques. The lighting and position of the camera fully reveal the underlying techniques of Yepes' performance. Thanks ever so much for restoring this. I've learned a great deal from it.

Extraordinaria presentación del maestro Yepes. Su aplomo y seguridad son sorprendente, así como su musicalidad. El maestro Narciso Yepes está en su mejor forma. Histórica presentación. Gracias por compartirla.

This guy is such a joy to watch. He is one of my favorite guitar masters ever. Because of him, I studied classical guitar. My favorite is when he plays alone in his recitals. AMAZING beyond belief. I have many of his cds. If you don't, you should.

LOVELY! Sir Joaquin playing himself! SUPERB!!!! Glory to God! You can hear all the spanish nuances too. He’s absolutely BRILLIANT with the Chile orchestra. Obviously he felt more of a kinship with them and they total honor and respect. They don’t dare outshine his sound his ego his genius. THAT evening was very very special! THIS is the version I heard on WNYC Classical Radio in 2012. It grabbed my soul’s attention most completely.

Superbe vidéo. La maîtrise technique (quelle main droite ! ) et musicale de Yepes est totale. Son Aranjuez est de toute beauté. C'est plus que de la guitare... C'est magique.

Yepes not Segovia who made classical guitar very popular instruments in Japan during 1960-80's. It was difficulit find people who had not heard him play Romance from the French movie Jeux interdits. Every time he had concerts in Japan, his encores never ended until he palyed Romance. Segovia was super hero among classical music fans and classical guitarists including me, however Yepes was the greatest influencer to the ordinary peoples those days.

Yes. I fully agree. I was a neophyte guitarist in the 1970's and it was Yepes, not Segovia, who took classical guitar to the small schools and villages in foreign countries. Both Segovia and Yepes played the big venues, but Yepes also played to small audiences in remote and rural places. He truly was a wonderful ambassador for the classical guitar, and he probably kept many people (self included) studying the instrument when otherwise they would have just given up and done something else as a hobby. I'm grateful to Yepes, and also to the content creator who's kept his legacy relevant and accessible. Bravo!

He is the ONLY guitarist that stands next to Segovia. He truly is the best - what he did for guitar and his UNIQUE skill. What I would give to have a masterclass with him.

8:31 He picks the wrong string here. He seems a little unfocused here because he seems to enjoy it as an easy exercise. But the mastery is to just keep going. It's impressive that this was the only wrong note I ever heard from Yepes.

There are a couple of others in other performances. As Fritz always says, Narciso didn't practise; he did his practising as a boy; this is just how he played off the cuff. But I wouldn't say "an easy exercise." I'd say he's doing something with the music; he's interpreting; he's expressing something; he's doing something more and different than just playing the notes (more than an easy exercise); so the focus isn't only on note 'accuracy' but also on saying something with/between the notes. I'd go further and say some people today play so-called flawlessly, but it's often one big mistake from beginning to end, either because the tone isn't what the guitar *can* be when approached a different way, or because they're not expressing much of anything more and different than the written notes (regardless of incongruous *facial* expressions), or both. That's the difference between an artist like Yepes and today's crop of 'flawless' players. I'd take a miss-struck note in a *musically* expressive interpretation over a 'flawless' execution with incongruous *facial* expressions every day. :)

Prefiero las interpretaciones más antiguas de Yepes con guitarra de 6 cuerdas, con Argenta. No obstante esto es insuperable.
