1988 Square Body Dually Gets New Speaker System!! | EASY DIY

1988 was the first year for the trip odometer which was in both the square body models & OBSs. The only square body models that were dropped in 1988 were the half ton & three quarter ton plain cab pickups. When the OBSs were first introduced in 1988, they only came in plain & new optional extended cab pickup models at the time because crew cab pickup & SUV models with the previous square body design were still in production up through 1991. The one ton plain cab pickups were the only models that came in both body designs at the same time which was from 1988 - 1989. Thaz why the series on square body models were changed to R/V series in 1987 so they wouldn't confuse people with the square body models & the upcoming next generation C/K series pickups which were the OBSs for the 1988 model year because both body designs were going to be in production at the same time which lasted up through 1991.

For the new rear speaker brackets, did you use double sided tape or screws to secure them to the cab? Or were they snug enough on their own?

They were pretty snug, but double sided tape would probably be a good idea. I may actually go back and add that!
