Installing Kicker KSC350 3.5" Dash Speakers into 1973-87 Chevrolet/GMC C/K Trucks and/or 1973-89 Suburbans/Blazers (1982 Model Used In Video). UPDATE I had to re-upload this video with the sound edited out as the KZbin police yelled at me. You won’t hear how good they sound, but will get an idea of the install without my rambles… but instead one of my favorites I spliced in.

Use a hole saw the size of the tweeter to cut the dash pad so the tweet is protruding through it. It can look good if done right. I did that on my dads old truck so there wouldn’t be bulges in the dash. Also, put some speaker foam around the speaker so it seals the speaker to the dash pad. All the sound will be forced out of the speaker grill instead of having some of the sound trapped beneath the dash pad. Edit: I do realize this is old, but the advice can be used by anyone that is doing this same thing to their Chevy.

Never take a saw to the metal unless you will never go back, but great idea ill check it out.

@@shaun4bigblocksllc, this is true when trying to retain the stock look. I did it to keep the factory dash pad speaker grills from bulging, especially with the tweets being so big and sitting much higher than any other aftermarket speakers we had used before. If done right, it will still look really good. Sloppily cut holes will definitely take away from the clean look you’re trying to achieve.

@@shaun4bigblocksllc, my dads dash was cracked to shit to start off, so I didn’t mind cutting it. It didn’t even look bad after it. Not everyone has an old truck in pristine condition, so some might not mind cutting something if it’s not in perfect condition. Would I have cut it if it was in good shape? No.

Or just mount the speaker UNDER the bracket. That's what I did in my '86. It works and the dash pad bulge is gone.

I hope you got a new dash pad, or re-upholstered the old one. The OEM units on those vehicles (suburbans and pickups) were terrible. I remember having one of those done many years ago. I gave the dash, 2 aftermarket speaker grilles, and front trim pieces to my upholstery guy, and told him to wrap it up with the strongest matching vinyl. He did an amazing job. I didn’t think to take pictures of that custom job back in the 90s. I just know that it looked awesome.

Herb McBlunts thise brackets come with the truck. Are you sure your truck had the option for speakers on the dash. Becaus I don’t think all trims had that option but I could be wrong.

Hi Shaun, were you able to get he dash pad to sit down properly? Is there enough clearance for the dash pad when using these brackets? Thanks for the video!

I got the same speakers and installed them under the bracket directly on the dash. The tweeters stick up higher than the stock speakers so the dash pad would not fit right. I would not recommend installing the speakers as seen in this video. Again, I have the same kicker speakers.
