Toxo-vipers are not that bad! I had a squad of them when they came out in the 80s. Several of them together look much more intimidating than a single one alone.

I usually stick him in the back of the Cobra Wolf and use that red and gold Shock Viper from 2002 to drive the Imp.

after 1986 the troops became really over the top. not that there aren't gems, but nothing that reached the more realistic and simpler designs. the motorviper was a great mix of color and cool.

Hi Kevin, Ok, this is starting to be a bit paranoiac... lol... :D Could this figure have been, also, an original Cobra La trooper???? That purple color is very familiar and suspicious.... I am starting to think, if this would have been like that, Cobra La and Falcon and the Rawhide's would have been a serious reset of all G.I.Joe Universe. No Cobra Commander, no Duke and Cobra La as the new and almost only enemy. After the known failure, Hasbro would have requested to their marketing department to urgently rescue the classic and beloved old characters. Therefore, the new successful lines appeared in 1988: Tiger Force (Duke, Flint, Roadblock) and Iron Grenadiers (Destro), besides the new Cobra Commander figure already quickly resurrected 1987.

I like the Toxo Viper V2 much better than this one. This is just one very odd figure. This and the Hydro Viper.

Poor execution of what could've been a great figure. The color scheme and ridiculous "pistol" doomed this figure to D-list status.
