Fake news, 80s-early 2000s was the golden era. Pre 2004 rules was the best. Anybody can score and make the NBA now. way to easy to play today vs yesterday. Im 50, former player and busted up some young 20 yr olds who are so called professionals. they didn't know what to do. if the players were so much more skilled then why they cant play 82 games every year? why do they load manage? if you're bigger faster and stronger you should be able to play all 82 or at the base minimum 75 games on avg. Most of them cant even do that. The game is regressed significantly today by RULE! and no grit or heart or motivation other than the bag. sad state the NBA is in today without China and Europe the NBA would be in chapter 11 bankruptcy.

When you watch these matches you realize thats the jordan bulls were buit by Doug Collins. Phil Jakson only had to mantain the motivation. The story is way unfar, sometimes.

Different sports but I feel the same way when it comes to Tony Dungy and John Gruden . That buccaneers team that beat the raiders was mostly all of Dungy's work. Gruden ran the franchise into the ground slowly until his firing.

Wrong. First, Collins was vehemently against Krause trading Oakley for Cartwright after the 88 season. 2nd, Collins wasn't willing to give Grant the minutes he needed to develop as a player [he gave those minutes to Oakley]. 3rd, the Chicago offense _always_ invariably would have to be initiated by Jordan having to touch the ball, and then Jordan again would have too often have to bail them out by creating a shot as the shot clock ran down. The 88-9 season was a strange season . . . it was the first season in which all 5 of the starters from their first two titles would be on the roster, yes. However, the truth is the Bulls were a huge disappointment that regular season. They'd won 50 games the year before and were supposed to be any up-and-coming Eastern power. But they actually slipped badly, winning only 47 games that year. They'd played 6 games against Cleveland that year, and had lost _all six_ . . . Krause and Reinsdorf were so disappointed by how the season went that year that after their [expected] loss to Cleveland, they were going to start another rebuild. They were gonna get rid of Cartwright and Paxson, and also consider shopping Grant or Pippen or both. What nobody expected was how Jordan simply played _out of his mind_ . . . even for him, in leading the team to wins against Cleveland and New York in the first two rounds. Not only that, they were the only team to beat Detroit _at all_ in the 89 playoffs. Make no mistake, the 89 Bulls were a dysfunctional group. They relied _way too heavily_ on Jordan to have to be incredible _every game_ just to be able to compete, and they just couldn't compete against the real big boys in the league. It took Jackson and Tex Winter _all_ of the 90 and 91 regular seasons to get the triple post offense fully integrated not just with the test of the team, but for Jordan to learn how to be able to use that offensive system so that other players could get shots in rhythm throughout the game, and how Jackson intended all along for Jordan to use that system to have enough left in the tank to take games over in the last 5 minutes of games. Collins was simply too reliant, too mesmerized by Jordan, and he was also too manic. He got way too high when they won, dropped too low when they lost. They were just never gonna beat Detroit in a 7game series like that.
