Today I am opening up a box of 1989 Bowman in search of a Ken Griffey Jr rookie card. Check out what cards we pulled as we take a walk down memory lane. These were some of the first cards I bought as a kid.

I worked at Walmart in high school when these came out......these Bowman cards ended up on clearance and I was getting them for 10 cents a pack

I remember ther being alot of hype about the release of this set back in the the day and I think that card being bigger than standard really screwed it up cause they where beatiful photosm

I think the price you quoted was pretty spot on. My grandfather bought me a box of these for my birthday. He got a small discount for buying the full box. I think he paid $17 for the entire box. Great times.

I would like the 1989 series more if the cards weren't larger than the standard size. Luckily, from the 1990's series on, they were back to regular size.

Love older Bowman, 1991 Bowman has some great chaser cards...PSA 10 Chipper Jones and Mike Mussina cards are 50 dollar cards on ebay all day.And then you have Pudge and Jim Thome 40 dollar cards

I definitely see the allure to these for some people, but I was 6 years old when these came out and it was so infuriating they wouldn't fit in a binder sleeve or stack up with my other cards. Plus not having names on the front really bothered me, it was like watching a college sports game where no one had names on their jersey... tough to understand when you're that little. At 35 though these are looking a lot nicer but I still don't know how I feel about the size. But really Bowman did a pretty solid job with these, great in 90 and 91 and then just epic in 92 so it was a good progression.

Not only would they not fit in penny sleeves... also didn’t fit albums, plastic cases or anything else at the time except the top loaders!! Hated that.

I think the proposal is disgusting and sports culture is being ruined by these new commissioners changing formats. If people don't like sports stop trying to force them. I want sports to be sports not real house husbands of MLB
