After seeing how you conduct your channel, it has resparked my idea about possibly starting a channel. Thank you for responding and the discussion!

Great job! The tip to remove the rear driver side tire is something I didn't even think of. I just paid $400.00 to tow my truck and all it was was a bad ground. I wish I would have seen this video to see where the fuel pump ground wire connects to the frame and avoid the $400.00 tow charge. Well at least I didn't drop the tank and change the pump. I already did that before. For all I know it may have been a bad ground the 1st time I changed the fuel pump in my workplace parking lot.

Thanks Maq! Got the tank out of my long bed extended cab 89 today. It didn't have the frame bracket for the strap. Came out -pretty easy, but it is tight tight tight getting the fuel lines loosened up. So far, this has not been as bad as dropping the tank on my 94 Ciera. Hope it goes back in without too much trouble. 🙂

Wows--got tank and Vortec pump installed. ALL my engine check lights are gone 😳 did not expect this. Truck is running great, no more surging and loss of power intermittently. FYI, I've seen some folks caution against going with a higher pressure pump on the TBI trucks. No probs with this one, I did put a 15psi spring in the pressure regulator. It is easier for the computer to adjust high pressure down, than to try and compensate for low pressure. I was getting A Block Learn Module error when I hooked the laptop to the OBD1 connector, and this was triggering an engine check light. Have not hooked the laptop up since replacing the pump, since it is running so much better. MPG has increased NOTABLY since replacement. I could smell the gas coming out of the exhaust it was running so rich before. Doesn't make sense, since it had low pressure. Was running about 9 or 10 psi previously.

He said he saw his father in me. So thank you so much for the comment.

Thanks for the great video and explanations. I have a 1988 c1500 that I am replacing fuel pump in. Your video is the only one I've found that has the same type of setup as mine. I'm afraid I may need to replace tank as well. Rusted only around pump area. Unfortunately, my fuel lines did not disconnect as easily as yours. Too rusty. I have to replace the lines that connect to the pump. Part number for anyone looking is 800-933 for 5/16" return line, and 800-934 for the 3/8" supply line.

So it was a Success, but we took off the bed. Swapped the pump. But ran into the same issue, Wasn’t turning over. After sometime of research, we determined it was injectors. So swapped those out, STILL wasn’t turning over. After 45 minutes of scratching our heads an going through schematics. We checked the fuses….turns out the fuel injector fuse was missing Fired right up. So just in case anyone else has the sort of issue check your fuses.

Great work, your video really helped me with some questions I had on my recent 92 GMC Sierra purchase! One thing I noticed is that you forgot to put the anti squeak material back between the tank and straps! I'm pretty sure you've noticed a noise by now, I just wanted to point that out.

@@MaqsVids Your welcome! Yes I figured that, I thought the same way. Luckily when I went to the part store to get fluid for my 86 C10, the old guy checking out beside me and myself got into the conversation about fuel tanks and he mentioned to use old bike tire inner tubes as anti squeak! Simple yet genius, he also mentioned to me it's not only for anti squeak, it's also for anti chaffing which can cause fuel leaks in the future! I cut the tubes in half (long ways) then cut to fit length, and then glue. Make sure the coverage area is correct before tightening scraps the first one I did was a bit narrow!

I have been searching for a good video on changing the fuel pump on my 97, C1500 Suburban, and yours is the best-made one I have seen. Your vehicle is a close enough model to be very helpful. Your video was very well made with excellent descriptions of what you did along the way. I will not need to change my entire tank, but I did like the idea of using the existing fuel pump to empty the tank. I was concerned when you used a hacksaw to cut the fuel line. Isn't this a risk of fire or explosion? I would appreciate hearing back. Thanks again for the great video. God bless. PS. I really like the, "Hey, baby. I love you, too!" at the end. My wife and I celebrate our 45th anniversary on June 10, 2022.

Thank you so much! I am glad it helps. And, perhaps I should have been a bit more concerned using the hack saw. I guess there was a chance for some sparks. I was too excited about how I was going to pump the old gas out. A pipe cutter would have been a smarter move. PS - Congratulations on 45 years of marriage. I hope to be celebrating the same thing one day.

Excellent and very thorough video! Thanks for making this as I am in the middle of doing this for my son on his 1997 K1500. One question, at the 12:40 time mark, there is an open metal line on the left side of the view along the frame that is not going anywhere. Is that just an old line that was for something else and is not used anymore? Just curious. Thanks!

You are the first person mention to that. It was a brake line that was replaced and they never took it out. My guess is that they left it because It was hard to get to with the tank in place. And, thanks. Gook luck with your truck.
