1989 Dan Elevator traction elevators (2001 mod by MacGREGOR-KONE) @ Cruiseferry M/S Pearl Seaways

MS Pearl Seaways is a ro-ro cruiseferry owned by DFDS Seaways and operated on their highly popular Copenhagen--Oslo route. She was built in 1989 by Wärtsilä Marine, Turku, for Rederi AB Slite as MS Athena for use in Viking Line traffic. Between 1993 and 2001 she sailed as MS Langkapuri Star Aquarius. In 2001 she was bought by DFDS and the interior went through a heavy refurbishment and the elevators got modernized by MacGREGOR KONE with KONE with M-series fixtures. From 2001 to 2010 she sailed as MS Pearl of Scandinavia bearing an almost full white livery. However in 2010 she was renamed to her current name, "Pearl Seaways" and the hull got repainted with a nice new design with blue color on the lower part (deck 2-5)

Seeing this video again seems like a dream comes true for me. I work in a German cruise ship for a 9 months contract and it has MacGregor KONE elevators from 1996. There are 17 units in total; 10 passenger and 7 service. The passenger ones have had its inside panel slapped with Schaefer buttons while the service ones still retains the M-Series buttons. And since I'm a crew member working in there, riding the service elevators everyday is very exciting!

That sounds nice. What ship is it? Sad to read the passenger elevators have been spoiled. Are there any service elevators without inner doors?

I can't disclose the name of the ship, but I will give you a clue; the ship is operated by a German hospitality company and it is a former Celebrity Cruises fleet under the name "Mercury". There are no service elevators without inner doors. All uses standard automatic doors. I managed to film 3 service elevators in there. Didn't even bother to do the passenger ones since they've been spoiled, and besides crew members obviously aren't allowed to use them.

And I think every building staffs in Indonesia should be like this. Most staffs are not willing to let elevator enthusiats to just film or taking photos of restricted elevators due to risk of burglary, terrorism or other no good actions.

Thanks for this amazing tour! The front passenger lifts were rather disappointing that the indicators didn't light up and they didn't seem to run that well. I was surprised that you didn't lose your hand to the one set of doors...
