Common sense upgrades! Dot 5 was a disaster! Those big fans sure do scare you when they engage. Those 6.2-6.5 Detroit’s once perfected were excellent. Derived from the 8.2 fuel squeezer that had some serious cylinder instability problems to say the least. I had the opportunity to drive a civilian version when they were new and was impressed with everything I saw. Not much in the way of creature comforts and room inside but who cares when you can drive over the top of most SUV’s on the road. Thanks for sharing and I’ll be watching

I agree. But I tell you the 6.2 is low on power. However it makes it harder to break things when there is such lower rpm and low power. It does chug chug all day though which has been awesome for off roading.

Always cool to see people breathe new life into Humvees. Great build, thanks for showing us more under the hood! Do you have any other future plans for it?

Thank you! Unfortunately I sold this truck, but I'm building a m1097A2 (newer heavy duty version) right now and will be doing some of the same mods aswell as doing things differently/better in my mind, will start posting videos of that one soon

I like all the detail. I see you have sound insulation on the dog house too. I bet the truck is quiet inside. We run ours hard off road. I wouldn’t be able to have the power distribution box there as it would get drenched with water and mud. What kind of adventures have you had with it so far?

The insulated dog house did the most for the engine noise, it was a bit much otherwise, I honestly didn't do very much adventuring with it as it was my daily driver, spent alot of time driving it but nothing extreme. I'm working on a new one now, will have the 12v Inverter inside the cab this time, also going to do a new style doghouse, will be posting videos soon!

Hi . Do you have a part numbers for the fan clutch and fan blade? I’m going to convert my too . Hated hydraulic clutch and now finally broke never disengage
@TheCoralSniper Жыл бұрын
I don't, but all I did was get a junkyard 6.2 diesel fan and clutch from a chevy, you'll have to get your own bolt just the right length but it does fit! Way better than the expensive complicated hydraulic system

Can you do a video of how you changed the fan out from Hydraulic to mechanical . Want to upgrade mine!
@TheCoralSniper Жыл бұрын
Will be building my next humvee soon, will be making videos of it all and I can try and make one of that fan swap👍
@nminskeyАй бұрын
@@TheCoralSniper I'm here a year later for that fan swap lol
@TheCoralSniperАй бұрын
@@nminskey I ended up not swapping the fan on my most recent humvee 😅, but all I did was buy a used 6.2 diesel chevy pickup fan and thermostatic clutch and I was able to bolt it right in place of the hydraulic one

On a Diesel engine there should be some "BLOWBY" In fact "BLOWBY" is what makes the HMMWV Deep Water Fording kit (DWF) work!

No sorry, this is a bad thing. A similar myth to adding back pressure in exhaust system helps. Yes they utilize it for dwf system but you can tap boost pressure for that - I built a p400 with a sumpless oil system running crankcaee in a vacuum of 6-10” so simply tap the boost circuit. Overheating these engines causes the blow by to occur sooner and is simply damaged rings. I run gapless and have stock oiling system- eliminating cdr using a provent. This method keeps crankcase pressure at a minimum and into vacuum most of the time. Deep water still not an issue. People went fording rivers half a century before this method was applied. Blow by is never a good thing.

Did YOU actually do all those so-called "Mods"...or did YOU have them done? Reason for asking, in this video you appear to not know a lot about what was done!!!

Haha yes I definitely did every bit of this restoration myself, trying to film and show/talk about the truck with one hand isn't my best talent 😅 !

May be a werd question but could you get a hummer in gas?
@TheCoralSniperАй бұрын
@@llegacy1870 they made a few h1 hummers (civilian version) with gas engines, but no humvees, you could always swap in a gas engine though, seen alot of those done.
