Watching this in 1989 live on TV is what got me into running. Did London 3 times and multiple other marathons, and hundreds of half marathons. Happy days.

I ran in this race .The company I worked for Convoys of Depford sponsored me so because the race passed by our firm I dressed as Charlie Chaplin . 1 because my colleagues would notice me and 2 my name is Charlie, so all the way round the crowd cheered me on by shouting come on Charlie’s I am seen at the 13 minute marker on the video.

Hi Bill, thanks for uploading this video. I know it’s probably a long shot or you would have uploaded it, but do you have the full TV coverage from 1989? Or, do you know where I can get it? My grandad recently passed away and my gran mentioned he ran this race and was on TV. Would love to get it for her 🤞

I only spotted your comment now...and sorry to hear your Grandad had passed... unfortunately I have only these precious minutes of this marathon..I have looked high and low for more as it was a great race between 3 champs ...might be worth seeing if the BBC might have footage you could perhaps purchase or better still have... wishing you all the best
