My mother used to have a 1989 Dodge Grand Caravan till 1993. Both of my parents traded it and an early 90’s Ford Taurus for a 1993 Ford Explorer. I did wanted a red Caravan back in the early 90’s for my first car. I also had a couple others as my dream cars. A late 1980’s Ford Mustang and 1991 Geo Tracker. My tastes in cars changes over the years. In the mid 90’s that I wanted a white Jeep. In the late 90’s that I gotten my 1st car in mid October 1999. It was a 1998 Ford Contour SE. I had different vehicles over the years. Now I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE.

I drove this van for work as an intern out of college in 2009. Thr check engine light had been on for 5 years. The AC didn't work and neither did the tape deck. There were plants growing in the carpet. It smelled like rotting vinyl inside. Good memories

My first car in High School was an 88 Caravan which we had for 15 years. We also said a 94 Voyager which my dad used as a work van. That 6G72 engine, I will never forget the sound of that engine

I was born in August 1993 and my parents bought a 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan LE used in May 1993 that was the same color as this one. They bought a green '97 Grand Caravan after they sold the '88 in 1998

About 2 weeks ago I picked up an '88 Voyager. 2.5 liter with 80k original miles on it. I used to have a 95 Voyager and loved it. I couldn't pass on paying $500 for a running vehicle! It needs some cosmetic TLC, but all in all, this thing is in good condition.

My dad used to have one of these when I was much younger as a small child. I remember going to school in it, I actually liked it a lot! It ended up with a penny in the A/C vent that totally wasn't 4 year old me's fault.:/

This video gave me a big smile. :) I owned one of these about 7 yrs. ago, an 87 GV SE in the brownish-maroon color, woodgrain sides and bordello red velour interior. Decent car. Then a 97 GV SE, also a decent car. Now I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer V8 which is an awesome car. I'm really into abandoned nameplates...will probably get a Fisker as my next car...

My father had a 2000 Caravan with 220k. Not one dealer would take in trade so he donated it to a shelter who needed it to move furniture.

I grew up in these minivans. My parents owned quite afew of them. The first one that they ever had was a 1987 Plymouth voyager I believe or a different model van. Then they bought a 94 in 98. Then my dad bought a 96 for my mom in 2002. And then the last one that my dad ever bought for himself in 2003 was a 95. My parrents had to get rid of those vans because they were not safe to drive on the road anymore. I miss those vans:( I grew up in them too.

I plan to nab an '88 Caravan SE with the 3.0L V6 as soon as I sell my '99 Tahoe. I've always had a soft spot for these old 1st gen vans. We never had one growing up but some family friends did it was an '88 Voyager SE in dark blue with blue interior. I remember riding in that van it was very nice. My uncle had 2 of them when I was a kid which I never rode in(I've never ridden in any of his vehicles). One was a '87 or '88? Grand Voyager in black with wood grain with burgundy interior, the other which he drove the most was a 1987 Caravan SE in silver with grey interior and had the 2.6 Mitsubishi engine. He totaled the Caravan in 2002 or '03 when he hit a deer, sold the Grand Voyager and replaced both with a 1993 Grand Voyager SE. He now has a '99 or '00? Grand caravan and an '06 Grand Caravan.

259 000 miles, wow. I watched your videos a few times, also the T&C 1st gen, but i can't remeber seeing a mileage that high on a 3.0 AS Body, even it has been overhauled / rebuilt. Thats over 400 000 KM, pretty impressive.

My mom bought one of these except ours is white with red interior. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles on it like this one does BUT ours still runs. It has 247,537 miles on it, It's gotta a newer engine in it, newer transmission, and everything under it has been replaced and its still going. We just got rid of our 1988 Plymouth voyager ( it got 36 mpg ), we sold it for 500 bucks. It was a good old van and its still going as well although that old van's engine is wore out ( It has 121,752 miles on it ). Its sad how these things aren't on the road anymore.... same goes for all cars. Its amazing, soon all the "new" cars will be 15-20 years of age and won't be on the roads anymore.... Just sad :/

Excuse me, how do you install a car alarm in this vehicle? Like for example, the car remote classic. It could be the universal car remote classic or the voxx electronics replacement car remote classic. Where is the programming/override button in a car like this?

Also the ones in the 90's had the brake shift interlock problem, it wasn't a widely known problem but did exist, I think if more families knew about the problem they wouldn't have chosen as her family vehicles.
@JK-tq4qf7 ай бұрын
It was a 10 dollar part to add into the vehicle, and they skipped it.. meanwhile GM and others were already doing this years prior. I have a 98 Grand Caravan Sport with 37,000 miles on it and I love it, but for a family friendly vehicle they should definitely have it..

Most of those 3.0l V6 Engines in them are usually good for 125,000 miles in them and after that people usually sell them for scrap or buy a new motor and transmission every 125,000 miles in them so after the motor got replaced twice its on a 3rd motor and transmission in them.
@ChillkootMarkowee4 жыл бұрын
Yeah well my old Dodge Caravan has the same 3Litre V-6 engine and torqueflite 3spd auto and it lived past 140 000miles still going strong on it's original engine and driveline. Considering I used to beat the crap out of it and lay rubber the first day I bought it for $200.

@Minivan_Man11 жыл бұрын
Sad but true, yes the 3.3 / 3.8 are probably the best fuel injected Chrysler engines. But the 3.0 are more common in the 1st Gen´s, 3.3 came out 1990, too bad they didn´t got it before.

That van brings back memories, lol Growing up we had the same van It was a 87, same color and same color interior but it didn't have power windows. What I find strange back in the 80's and early 90's the van's where very boxy looking, then the style changed in the mid to late 90's, I personally dislike that style of van I found the backseat very uncomfortable, now the Dodge Caravan are going back to the Boxy style, I think they should have never change the style in the first place.
