Look at all those round tubes creating all that turbulence!

In spite of watching the '90, '91, '92, '93, ... Tours, this is the first time I've seen the live coverage of the '89 Tour. Wow. Just wow.

Yate's record lasted what--a year or two? As far as I know LeMond still holds the long time trial record, and most likely the only clean one. Only the prologues have been faster. If they ran this same course today, though, I think with the new bikes and better aerodynamics, and 29 years working in that position they could go faster.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for uploading these historic videos. Unfortunately they keep disappearing. I have a request if you can PLEASE find the 1983 World Championship Road Race and reupload it. KZbin took it down. Its the one with the footage of Lemond on his solo breakaway and his Dad commentating. Its such a shame that video disappeared. It was one of THE GREATEST cycling videos ever.

Fine video, among the best. However, if you put "1989 Tour De France" in the title this video would come up in a search more and be seen much more.

I was schooling a friend in cycling and wanted to stay under the radar. I downloaded and edited the 1985-1991 tours and taught her as she watched, so I didn't want comments. A guy named chickasmith has the originals...I borrowed them from him. Thanks for the compliments. I tried to add humor so she'd find then entertaining.

@13;10. Fignon has never beaten GL in a TDF TT. Errr, 1984?

This is why there hasn't been a time trial sense.

Those aren't that common. I think they did it in 1968, then in 1989, and it hasn't been done since.
