I was a 12 year old boy when I was in the middle of this event. I remember being dismissed from a local American school for winter vacation/term on Dec 19 1989 and I went to visit a friend who lived in the Casco Viejo section of Panama City and it took me a few days to reach the area of the Papal "Nunciatura". I remember watching the US Army Psyops troops blasting rock music at full volume through large speakers mounted on Humvees. I later returned to my parents in another part of town, but this is the event of my lifetime I will never forget.

I was in belize in 1989 with the RAF .. i was due to fly home on last flight out before xmas when USA invaded Panama and imposed a no fly zone in the region. The VC-10 sat waiting while we didnt know if we would be going anywhere .. finally our flight was given permission to fly and we were on our way to Dulles , about 3 hours late.. and home for xmas!
