Anthony Winkler on the pod! Love when Caribbean t'ings show up unexpectedly. We can be quite the melange. I am not Jamaican but I am Caribbean and am familiar with the writings of Mr. Winkler (met him once at a Caribbean literary festival actually). His film The Lunatic was quite popular as I remember when it came out here forever ago. I haven't seen The Annihilation of Fish but I did read, also a while ago, the book The Annihilation of Fish and Other Stories which I remember for its hilarity...though nothing of the plot described sounds particularly familiar. Botched Caribbean accents is unfortunately a familiar narrative.

you two didn't strike me as folks who would be "wowed" by celebrities. every human is special, some people just got helped to get to the top, while others didn't. so celebrities aren't anything special. they don't do anything superior or special, that someone couldn't replace them and do equally. you both certainly come off as having a lot of clarity, intelligence and balance on inequity and "superiority".
