Awesome update! Congrats on fixing the system yourself. Especially since there aren't any videos on this subject online and little info... I burst out laughing when you mentioned me lol. It's funny, right before that I was thinking how it was a great idea to transfer the foam pads over! Top notch work! This is giving me ideas for future updates. Thanks for documenting everything.

Having my Evap and Heater Core done at the dealer on my E34. It's a `93 and it had R134a standard. `92's did not. They had R12.

LHD looks like childs play to work on ac parts considering you have to rip out the pedal box, steering column just to put out the evap on RHD. You know it's bad when bmw had to make a special cabin filter that slides in the middle so you can take it out without dissembling the pedal box

Agree with Mr. Quebec, glad to see you could get the foam switched over. Mine was a little too degraded to do that so I skimped on the top and bottom foam. And YES I wish there was an air filter! Essentially, the "cabin air filter" IS the evaporator which terrible. Mine was gross in there too, and had a bunch of refrigerant oil caked in it from the leak. Did you change your condenser too?
@Resq283 жыл бұрын
Yes, mine was caked with oil as well. I didn’t change the condenser because it’s still solid, fingers crossed no issues. Just changed the dryer and evaporator. 👍👍

@@Resq28 I will be interested to see how it handles really hot days. If your condenser is original, it will likely be series flow. The R134a condensers are parallel flow (see my forum thread again). If you order a standard replacement for these cars, it will always be parallel flow.

@@WilliamGreenlee shoot, I did not know that! Fingers crossed, as of right now, she is working really well on 30min drives. Damn, I should have picked up on that and changed it while the system was down.

@@Resq28 If it's any comfort, the official BMW R134a retrofit kit for these cars did NOT include a condenser, so I bet it's fine.

Can you tell us the part numbers of the parts you purchased for your AC overhaul?

Shoot. Sorry I’ll have to dig for the receipt. I changed the air dryer, evaporator and valve. I believe I got it all from Rock Auto.
