Well I asked and you guys answered! Everyone wanted to see episode 1 of fixing up the E32 735iL so here it is! Today we focus on fixing the most important things necessary to get this thing back on the road. We tackle the M30B35s water pump replacement, we replace the Blower motor, fix the in-op windows, give the underside a general inspection, AND get this thing on matching winter tires. She is beginning to feel more like a 7 series!

Totally agree about those horrid wheels, definitely looks better on style 5s even if a little small. And you're right about the paper gaskets too! Great work dude! 👍🙂

Hey young man... Next time you run across a job like this take the radiator out too... 5 more minutes, remove the hose at the thermostat and the upper hose from the drivers side. You can see everything this way. Also you can use the gasket maker (permatex) on both the water pump and thermostat without a gasket. Just put a "nail" sized bead around the pump and thermostat housing wait 5 - 10 mins and install... Easy way to refill system without bleeding is nose up, take the cooling fan temp sensor out of the radiator then fill the system. When coolant trickles out replace sensor then start the car with heater on hot. Leave radiator cap off, when it warms up squeeze the top hose a couple of times briskly, coolant level will settle then top off. Cool your diving in! Less complaining about my 80's! Lol When you actually wrap your mind around it the stuff get really easy. Good work my man!

Had to repair the same wire harness issue along the driver-side trunk hinge a couple of years ago on my 89 535i. The the doors (especially the driver side) can have the same issues. The more you bend those stranded wires, the more you cold work the copper and it becomes harder and more brittle and starts to break apart.

sounds like the problem with the purple one is that its purple.. just my humble opinion also check the background on the v8, BMW had problems with the compression on those engines for a period. They gave an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles.. if the engine was replaced for free by BMW, then you're probably good to go. good luck! 540s are sweet!!
