It's nice to be reminded just how much Chris Brown ripped! May he be shredding it up in Heaven.

When you take a look at the previous events at threstles, the level and style of the new generation made such a jump forward compared to the older guys. Unbeleavable !

Damn, this was awesome. The commentators had great energy. Sounded like race car announcers at times. The surfing was gnarly bc you could feel the aggression and how charged everyone was. Cool to see some of the big names who are still in the surfing world today. Didn’t realize Reyna from Firewire was such a ripper back in the day. I wonder how big Llamas was, he looked huge. Not many big guys can surf like that. Not crazy about his style tho. Surfed like a cross between Occy and a Silverback. And Slater. . . Holy shit he just had such a good grasp of his body in the water. Fun to see these old clips

The progression in surfing from the 89 contest to this one is pretty substantial. Kelly brought contest surfing to a whole other level.

What is a tailblock stall? I am 49 and surfed for 35 years and never heard of a tailblock stall.

I’m not saying I could surf those boards any better but does the arm flapping help?

Wow that was fun to watch…but…todays moves are so much more dynamic…it must be the boards because these guys, Llamas not so much, are super fit and young…
