Ascot, especially the motorcycle races held there, was worth 50 gorram shopping malls. What a pity.

Used to live in Torrance, I remember going there late 80's. Could hear the engines reving as far away as 190th and Van Ness.

The best raceway ever, grew up there, many, many memories, all good. Last year, I missed ZERO races, saw Billy Boat drop the qualifying record on the last sprint night. Ascot will always be a great memory for me. Cheers !

Billy Boat received simple instructions from Bruce Bromme on the setup before that Record setting, 17-second lap at Ascot... “ just set it… ...and forget it!” True story.

Felix Valenzuela I was there too, on a platform next to the press box videotaping the race. As I recall, PJ Jones cheated his way to a win by bumping the leader into the wall coming out of turn four on the final lap. There was a big controversy but PJ's daddy successfully lobbied to give him the win despite his cheating.

Some of my best childhood memories were at this racetrack. Now it’s an ugly parking structure for an ugly building. Great job city planners 👌

I was there. Very surreal walking the full 1/2 mile at 2:00am in the morning with several hundred other race fans.

The two sons are lyin'-snakes who for so long promised ANOTHER Ascot, nearby ('Freeway Close')...that they already had the land, etc. When the ole man was alive, they kept pushing him to sell. They then waited till after he died. A pox on them both!

Amélie Renoncule You're absolutely right. Jay and Chris we're really two-faced, double dealing scumbags. I wouldn't piss on either of them if they were on fire. Those two scumbags ruined Ascot!

My gramps Ed Barnett, helped to build Ascot. He raced there , along with my dad (Ed Jr) and my uncle Pete Barnett (T.T. motorcycles) . Gramps won the Oakland 500 in 1941(I believe) in Indy style car. Was to be sponsored by JC Agajanian for the 1943 Indy 500, but got mouthy with JC. JC fired gramps and Troy Rutman took his place and won Indy that year in a car sponsored by JC . My dad modified every vehicle he ever bought. Imagine that...Modifying a new Kawasaki Mach 3, (fastest production motorcycle at the time)as if its not fast enough. Put a hopped up Buick V6 engine in a volkswagon beetle. They didn't die young, they just lived fast.

This is inaccurate. PJ Jones won the final"Turkey Night." He did it by bumping the lead car going into turn four. He was always known to be a "dirty driver" and he proved it by cheating his way to a cheap, victory. RIP Ascot!

Incorrect. P.J. Jones never won the "Turkey Night Grand Prix."
