I love seeing your old vids Lyle! As someone who has lived in Tokyo for so long, how do you feel about it's development as a city and the way it has changed over the years ? (in terms of people, architecture, atmosphere, culture). Do you miss the Tokyo of the early 90s ?

Not enough space to answer all that here, but I think the biggest change for me is that in 1990, when I met someone, we were together without interruptions, so it was a more intense experience. Now when I'm with someone (at work or outside) their #1 priority tends to be their smartphone, so there are more and more people now that I see no point in even trying to talk to, as they never listen for more than about three or four seconds before they look at their smartphone screen for some communication from a distant friend. Your questions are all good ones, so I'll try to get to them someday - maybe in a blog post....

@@hsun7997 Yeah, well, I was venting a bit there. I enjoy my own long-distance contacts... but not with a smartphone and not when I'm with someone. When I'm with people, I turn my phone off (still just a phone, not a smartphone, but they're shutting down the only-phone system in January 2021, so there will only be smartphones...). Every generation has its good and bad aspects. When you mentioned that something has been lost over the past 30 years... I think that's what it is.
